“Little Oars Jr.” · alive · descendant of Oars · fights for Whitebeard Pirates · debuts Ch. 554

Profile

A colossal giant — so large that “our giants are dwarfs next to him” — who fights for the Whitebeard Pirates at Marineford. Identified on-page as “a descendant of Oars the Continent Puller.” He charges the bay to break the Marine line and reach Ace, declaring “Ace is my friend! I won’t let him die!!” (Ch. 554, pp. 14-15). The pirates expect him to “clear a path for the rest of them.” A corpse-coveting Warlord (the “Ki shi shi shi” laugher — see Gecko Moria) immediately covets his body.

Arc-by-arc updates

Marineford — drags a paddle-ship ashore; breaks the encirclement wall (Ch. 566) — “Raid”

  • Drags a hidden, newly-surfaced coated paddle-ship ashore (“He pulled the ship ashore!!”, pp. 12-13).
  • Though already maimed, smashes through the Marine encirclement wall with his own body, opening the path to the execution plaza (“They’ve broken through the encirclement wall!!”; pp. 14-16).
  • Collapses still crawling toward the execution stand for Ace (“Ace, I’m gonna…” / “Oars!!”; pp. 15-16).

Marineford — rises again; punches the wall’s gap with Luffy (Ch. 565) — “Oars’s Path”

  • The Marine magma/cannon bombardment leaves him “mortally wounded,” but he rises again (“LITTLE OARS JR.!!” / “He’s still alive?!”). Kizaru moves to finish him with “a shot in the head.”
  • Luffy — launched over the wall by Jimbei — lands beside him, and the two punch the lone gap in the Navy’s wall of steel open together as the alliance commits to storm the plaza (“Let me have Ace!!”). Whitebeard calls on him: “Oars!! Stay there!! We need your help!!”

Marineford — fallen; his body jams the Encirclement Wall (Ch. 564)

  • Already fallen, his huge body weighs down the rising Encirclement Wall and his spilled blood has “knocked out the power,” leaving the wall incomplete; referenced simply as “Oars” as Ace murmurs “Oars…” from the platform (p. 15).

Marineford — maimed, still crawling toward Ace (Ch. 556)

  • Though already maimed by Doflamingo, the giant keeps crawling toward the scaffold and Ace as Mihawk, Doflamingo and the Marines tear into him; Whitebeard’s commanders order the troops to “step over Oars and advance” (pp. 2-6). The breach he opened is one of the two points (OARS / BAY) cited in the Marine defense (pp. 12-13).

Marineford — breaches the bay; the Wano-hat flashback; maimed by Doflamingo (Ch. 555)

  • Breaches the Marine line: his bulk (“more than twice the size of our giants,” p. 2) smashes a corridor through the cordon — bowling over the giant Vice Admiral Vice Admiral Lacroix (pp. 6-7) — and into the Marineford bay, the allied crews ordered to “support Oars from behind.” Drives toward the plaza to reach Ace (pp. 2-7).
  • The hat (flashback, pp. 14-17): wears a Wano-style straw hat (amigasa) that Ace wove for him — Ace “learned how to make this from the Wano people,” burning the straw up three tries before he got it right. Oars uses the hat to shelter his crew from sun (“so close to the sun”) and snow. Seeds Ace Learned Straw-Hat Weaving From The Wano People.
  • Maimed: Doflamingo severs his leg with the string construct “Spiky Shadow Lizard” (p. 18) and lays claim to the giant’s corpse (“Oars’s corpse will be mine later!”). Even maimed, Oars Jr drags himself onward toward Ace (“Just a little farther,” p. 18). See Doflamingo Claims Oars Corpse Underworld Broker Tell.
