- 'Bark' = a barque, the three-masted sailing-ship type the island-vessel is modelled on — Thriller Bark is literally the world's largest pirate ship (its 'main mast' is Mast Mansion). 'Thriller' = the horror genre, and specifically nods to Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' — the definitive zombie-dance horror song — fitting Moria's zombie army and Moria's own moonwalk-styled menace. Profile
A colossal gothic castle-island wreathed in fog — “the ghost island that wanders the seas” (Ch. 443 p. 17). It is not a natural island: the Log Pose does not react to it, and Brook reveals it “came all the way here from West Blue” (p. 18), a tell that it is a man-made / mobile structure rather than a charted island. The Straw Hats were lured in by a drifting barrel (bait); a giant gate slammed shut, sealing the Thousand Sunny inside (p. 16). Brook warns the crew not to drop anchor on the shore and to break back out through the gate. Nami: “I have a really bad feeling about this island!”

- Ch. 458 — the island’s zombie population is shown in open panic: their longtime confidence (“‘we can’t die’ was practically our motto”) is broken by the “humming swordsman” (Brook) who learned their salt weakness and by the freed Oars’s roaring (pp. 2-3); a “special freezer encased in a thick layer of steel” held Oars before he broke out (pp. 6-7). - Ch. 461 — the Mast Mansion interior is mapped (p. 2): Moria’s Dance Hall, Moria’s Bedroom, Perona’s Room, the Wonder Garden and the freezer (the last place Moria’s shadow-room was seen); a bridge between mansion wings is broken and Franky improvises a replacement (pp. 10-11). The Thriller Bark church is shown as the venue for Absalom’s forced wedding to Nami (pp. 18-19).
