Wano Country — inside the Skull Dome (Ch. 1047)

• Inside the Skull Dome with the wounded yakuza/samurai as Onigashima starts to fall; reads the danger as proof “we’re pressuring Kaido,” and the men weigh dying when the island drops against Kaido winning — either way they urge Luffy: “Crush Kaido, and don’t worry about us!! Go ahead, Straw Haaat!!!” (pp. 15–16).

• The yakuza bosses of every region defer to him (“And look at gramps! Like he’s the boss of them all!!”); when Luffy disrespects him, the bosses move to maim Luffy and Hyogoro stops them (“Stop that!! I owe this man my life!!!”) (pp. 8, 10). His standing — plus Chopper curing the plague and the invocation of Lord Momonosuke — is what won the prisoners’ trust.

• Forced into Queen’s Sumo Inferno death-match as Luffy’s two-man team; the prisoners rally behind Luffy, pleading “we need you, Luffy-taro — just don’t let Boss Hyogoro die” (pp. 4-9).

Wano Country (Ch. 935)

• Still imprisoned beside Luffy in the Udon mines; when the wardens move against the starving old man, Luffy begs them to spare him (p. 16).
• Off-page, his legend is recalled at the Flower Capital bathhouse: Robin’s group wishes “Boss Hyogoro the Flower” were alive to “rustle up all the samurai at once” (p. 14), and recalls that young Lord Oden admired his character — unaware he is the very “Old Man Hyo” in Udon. Wano Country (Ch. 934) — “Hyogoro the Flower” revealed

• Revealed to be Hyogoro the Flower — “twenty years ago, the greatest yakuza boss in all of Wano, without question.” The Ringo group notes “Kyoshiro is a name unfamiliar to the rest of us,” placing Kyoshiro’s rise after Hyogoro’s era.
• Guards torment him for eating the millet dumplings Luffy gave him; he refuses to name his benefactor (“I would rather die than tell you!! Young punk!”, pp. 13–14). His chivalry — protecting the weak, standing firm against the foolish and mighty — visibly moves Luffy. Wano Country (Ch. 928)

• Thanks Luffy “for the heroic way that you rescued my humble and unworthy hide” (p. 2) — Luffy had rescued him the day before. Another prisoner remarks he “hasn’t got long to live anyway.”

• Introduced as “Old Man Hyo,” an aged prisoner unable to haul his quota of stone to earn his millet dumpling (p. 11).
• Stomped under Vice Warden Dobon’s foot when Dobon hunts the storehouse-food thieves; Luffy and Kid step in (p. 14).
• Etymology done : ヒョウ五郎 Hyōgorō — 五郎 (gorō) the classic “fifth son” samurai-era male name; ヒョウ left in katakana (兵 ‘warrior’ / 豹 ‘leopard’); epithet 花の “of the Flower”; younger-era design evokes the Niō / Fudō Myō-ō yakuza-tattoo guardian.
