Etymology
- Name: マジロマン Majiroman (VIZ “Madillo-Man”) — a clipping of アルマジロ arumajiro (“armadillo”) + マン (“-man”). The middle syllables of arMAJIRO / arMADILLO are kept and bolted to “man,” so the name literally reads “armadillo-man.”
- Reference: the armadillo — the armored mammal that curls into a ball — directly names his Armadillo SMILE (artificial Zoan): he grows a purple shell on his back, shields his face with the armadillo’s head/forelegs (technique Armadi-Guard アルマジガード), and rolls into an armored ball to attack.
- Convention: matches the Beasts-Pirates Gifter “[animal]-man” naming pattern (Alpacaman, Dachoman, Mouseman, etc.). No deeper goroawase or real-world-figure layer — a transparent animal portmanteau. Confidence: high.
