- Name meaning
- 鈴後 reads 'Ringo' — a homophone of りんご / 林檎, Japanese for 'apple,' fitting Wano's food-named regions. The chosen kanji are an ateji whose meanings are unrelated to food and exist only so the sound spells the fruit: 鈴 (rin / suzu) = 'bell' + 後 (go / ato / ushiro) = 'after / behind / rear.' Same playful ateji habit as sister-region Udon (兎丼 'rabbit rice-bowl,' heard as the udon noodle) and Kuri (九里 'Nine Ri,' heard as 栗 'chestnut'). The snowbound far-north placement also fits real-world geography: Aomori in snowy northern Japan is the country's apple heartland.

Profile
A snowbound region of Wano, one of the six divided by large rivers. Holds the Northern Graveyard. First named and shown Ch. 934.
Etymology
The Japanese name 鈴後 (rname Ringo) is an ateji — the kanji 鈴 (“bell”) + 後 (“after/behind”) carry no food meaning and are chosen purely so the reading spells りんご / 林檎, “apple.” This matches Oda’s running gag of naming Wano’s regions after foods via sound-puns: sister-region Udon writes 兎丼 (“rabbit rice-bowl”) but is heard as the udon noodle, and Kuri writes 九里 (“Nine Ri”) but is heard as 栗 “chestnut” (cf. Hakumai 白舞 → 白米 “white rice”). The region’s snowbound far-north location even mirrors real geography — Aomori, in snowy northern Japan, is the country’s apple-growing heartland. (Etymologized for Ch. 936, the chapter whose “RINGO, WANO” splash foregrounds the region; canonical first appearance held Ch. 934.)
