Summary
Above the Flower Capital, the adult pink dragon Momonosuke strains and fails to summon the flame clouds that would carry the falling Onigashima clear of the city. Intercut with his struggle is a flashback to Kozuki Toki sending him, Kozuki Hiyori and the retainers twenty years into the future: the boy did not want to go without his mother and the samurai begged to die “with blades in hand,” but Toki held firm, and young Momonosuke finally resolved, “I will go!! I’m ready, Mother!!” On the Skull Dome rooftop, Gear-5 Luffy battles dragon-form Kaido, who grabs lightning thrown back at him and lectures that Roger conquered the world with no Devil Fruit because “only Haki can transcend all.” Kaido unleashes Thunder Bagua and Dragon Twister – Demolition Gust as the “Destroyer of Death.” Below, the Flower Capital holds its Fire Festival — citizens launch sky-boats “to the deceased,” unaware of the battle overhead — while inside the Skull Dome Hyogoro’s yakuza joke that whether the island falls or Kaido wins, they are doomed, yet urge Luffy onward. In the treasure repository a jarred sea-prism-stone nail frees the serpent Orochi, who seizes Hiyori and swears to take Oden’s daughter to hell. Kaido rears back to punch through Onigashima onto the capital; Luffy shouts for Momonosuke to move the island.
New reveals
- Toki’s choice, shown from Momonosuke’s side. Flashback: Toki resolved to send her children and the retainers to the future; the young Momonosuke wept “But I am a child!!” and wanted his mother to come, and the samurai pleaded to be allowed to die fighting “with blades in hand” rather than flee — but Toki’s decision held (pp. 3–5).
- Kaido’s Haki creed. Kaido states Roger had no Devil-Fruit powers and that “only Haki… can transcend all!!!” — “abilities alone cannot conquer the world” (pp. 8–9).
- Orochi is still loose inside Onigashima. A vibration jars a sea-prism-stone nail free in the treasure repository; the eight-headed serpent Orochi breaks out, grabs Hiyori, and vows to drag “your precious daughter… to hell,” addressing the dead Oden (p. 17).
- The fall is imminent. Kaido decides to “put an end to all of this” by punching straight through Onigashima onto the Flower Capital below; Luffy answers by telling Momonosuke to move the island out of the way (pp. 18–19).

Open questions raised
- Can Momonosuke summon the flame clouds in time to move Onigashima before Kaido’s punch lands?
- Will Hiyori survive Orochi’s grab in the treasure repository — and who reaches her? See How Did Orochi Survive His Beheading.
- Does Kaido’s “only Haki can transcend all” creed hold against Luffy’s awakened fruit, or is it the thesis the fight will disprove?
