Summary

At the Udon Excavation Labor Camp, the prison wardens — led by Chief Warden Babanuki — try to crush the prisoner uprising by firing “plague rounds” that infect prisoners with Queen’s bioweapon virus, the Mummy plague — the disease desiccates its victims into “dried, rotted plants” and turns them into contagious “human weapons” who spread it by touch. The wardens drive the infected mob at Luffy and the freed allies, but Luffy grabs the sick prisoners with his bare hands and declares the plague has no effect on him. He delivers a rallying speech — denouncing the prisoners as slaves living on dumplings, invoking his promise to Tama to make Wano a place where everyone can eat their fill, recalling that Oden was killed by Kaido twenty years ago, and declaring the Straw Hats came “to fight Kaido and win.” The prisoners’ hearts turn and they resolve to rebel. Babanuki counters with a concentrated 200-dose “Plague Shot” fired from his own elephant trunk-cannon, but an ally ties the trunk shut, the shot backfires, and Babanuki is engulfed. With the wardens routed, the prisoners openly side with Luffy: eight days before the great battle, and unbeknownst to Kaido’s main army, Udon is pacified.
