Summary

In the ruins of the Whale Forest Guardians’ Dwelling on Zou, the samurai and minks finish telling the Straw Hats the Kozuki secret: Momonosuke’s father, Lord Kozuki Oden, sailed with Gold Roger all the way to Raftel and “learned the secrets of the world” — like Rayleigh — which is why Kaido’s agents (Doflamingo, Caesar) hunt the Kozuki retainers. Oden’s dying command was to open Wano’s closed borders and strike down the Shogun of Wano and Kaido, who jointly hold the country in lockdown. Kin’emon begs Luffy and Law for help; Luffy clashes comically with the crying eight-year-old Momonosuke, who confesses he wants to grow strong, avenge his murdered father and mother, and defeat Kaido. Luffy declares he will take down Kaido and the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance is sworn. Luffy adds a condition — they must first wait while he retrieves the missing Sanji, taken by Big Mom — and says he’ll bring Cat Viper along. As the minks celebrate the reconciliation of their two kings (Dogstorm and Cat Viper, once-close friends turned rivals), Jack’s fleet reappears off Zou; learning “Raizo was not there,” Jack resolves not to invade but to kill the elephant Zunisha.

New reveals

  • Momonosuke is the heir to the Kozuki Clan (chapter title; pp. 9–13). The adults urge that an heir need not lead until he comes of age.
  • Kozuki Oden sailed with Gold Roger to Raftel and “learned the secrets of the world,” just like Rayleigh (pp. 2). Oden’s retainers insist Oden deliberately burdened them with no secrets (p. 3).
  • Oden’s one dying message: open Wano’s closed borders and strike down the Shogun of Wano and Kaido (pp. 4–7). Wano is in lockdown via the combined strength of the Shogun and Kaido (p. 5).
  • The Kozuki Clan and the Minks “have been aligned for ages” and swore a pact to join their fates as one (p. 5) — Oden’s direct vassals are the two mink kings, Dog (Dogstorm) and Cat (Cat Viper) (p. 6).
  • The minks tease an undisclosed “ace up our sleeve” / “true power of the minks” to unveil next time they fight Jack’s forces (p. 6).
  • The Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance is formed to defeat Kaido (Straw Hats + Heart Pirates + minks + Kozuki samurai) (pp. 13–14).
  • Sanji was taken by Big Mom while the minks were asleep; Luffy vows to retrieve him before the alliance moves, and names Cat Viper as his escort (pp. 14–15).
  • Dogstorm and Cat Viper were once the closest of friends, but returned from a long shared journey “close to death,” and now any shared glance ignites a fight to the death (p. 15).
  • Jack returns to Zou with his fleet and, told “Raizo was not there,” decides not to invade but to kill the elephant Zunisha (pp. 16–17).
  • Momonosuke’s mother (Oden’s wife) was also put to death in Wano; a flashback shows Wano under attack (“Light the fires! We are surrounded!”) (pp. 10–11).
