- The claim
- The 'crime' for which the world-elephant Zunisha was sentenced to 'only be allowed to walk' the seas (@0821) dates to and is a consequence of the Void Century: Zunisha is a surviving servant/witness of the Ancient Kingdom (Joy Boy's era), and the faculty by which a Kozuki — Momonosuke (@0821), and partly Luffy, who alone hears its voice (@0820) — now commands it is the same Voice-of-All-Things channel by which Joy Boy once directed it ~800-1000 years ago. Predicted: the Zunisha↔Joy-Boy / Void-Century tie is made textual at or after Wano (the ~1,000-year markers foregrounded at Zou — @0802 — are not coincidental). The exact crime and the sentencing authority remain open; only the Void-Century framing and the Joy-Boy-era allegiance are the load-bearing claims.
The claim
Reasoning
Converging techniques (5 distinct)
- chekhov-explicit — The sentence is stated as an unexplained ancient judgment: “long ago, the elephant committed a crime, and ever since… it has only been allowed to walk” — it must beg permission even to defend itself (Ch. 821). A flagged-but-withheld crime is Oda’s standard deferred-reveal marker. See Jack Decides To Kill The Elephant Zunisha.
- background-symbol — The ~1,000-year markers are stacked into the setting: the elephant has walked “an entire millennium” and the Minks hid ~1,000 years (Ch. 802) — the same Void-Century timescale. See Zou Rests On A Living Millennium-Walking Elephant.
- prop-tell — Jack’s attack is the prop that triggers the reveal: Zunisha can act and strike (it swats Jack’s fleet) but only on a Kozuki’s order (@0819–0821), exposing the obedience-clause of its sentence.
- dialogue-from-dead-character — Roger and Oden heard Zunisha’s voice on past visits but could not converse with it (@0821; Oden’s Raftel knowledge Ch. 819) — the dead-witness framing that, in Oda, marks a buried-history payoff. See A Voice Grows Louder Near The Zou Whale.
- parallel-arc-structure — Zunisha’s millennium-long walking punishment rhymes with the Minks’ millennium-long waiting and Wano’s closed-borders exile — a deliberate set of Void-Century-era sentences/concealments around one location.
Resolution
What happened: Both load-bearing claims are made textual on-page. Ch. 1040 (p.15), through the adult-dragon Momonosuke, the world-elephant Zunisha reveals it is “a companion of Joyboy” who “committed a crime 800 years ago” — the on-page reason it has only ever been “allowed to walk.” That single panel fixes the sentence’s timeframe in the Void Century (800 years ago) and ties Zunisha’s allegiance directly to Joy Boy’s era, exactly the two load-bearing claims. Ch. 1043–Ch. 1046 reinforce it: Zunisha names the “drums of liberation” and declares “Joy Boy has returned” for the first time in 800 years as Luffy’s Nika heartbeat resumes — a living Void-Century witness recognizing the same rhythm.
What we got right / wrong: Right on both load-bearing legs (the Void-Century framing and the Joy-Boy-era allegiance), via a direct dialogue reveal rather than the inferential route the filing braced for. The two items the prediction explicitly held open — what the crime was and who sentenced it — remain unrevealed, but those were excluded from the claim by design, so the settlement is a clean confirm, not a partial. None of the three refuters fired (the crime is Void-Century, not later; Zunisha is Joy Boy’s companion, not a neutral/opposing entity; the ~1,000-year markers were not coincidental).
Confidence calibration check: We filed at 0.55; in retrospect this was under-confident — the five converging techniques would have priced ≈0.8, and the deliberate discount to the under-exercised mid-band proved larger than warranted: the reveal landed plainly and quickly within the next captured window. A useful data point that heavy discounting of a five-technique convergence can over-correct.
Supporting evidence
- Ch. 821 — Zunisha’s sentence is stated as an unexplained ancient judgment: “long ago, the elephant committed a crime,” and ever since it has “only been allowed to walk,” begging permission even to defend itself; a Kozuki (Momonosuke) commands it, and Roger and Oden once heard its voice.
- Ch. 820 — Luffy alone hears Zunisha’s voice as Zou shakes.
- Ch. 819 — Jack’s attack triggers the reveal: Zunisha can strike but only on a Kozuki’s order; Oden’s Raftel knowledge is noted.
- Ch. 802 — The ~1,000-year markers are stacked into the setting: the elephant has walked “an entire millennium” and the Minks hid for ~1,000 years.
What would refute this
- Crime is not Void-Century. If Zunisha’s offense is shown to be a separate, later matter unconnected to the Ancient Kingdom or Joy Boy, the framing fails.
- Zunisha was never Joy Boy’s servant. If Zunisha is revealed as a neutral or independent entity (or aligned with the opposing side of the Void-Century war), the “surviving servant of Joy Boy’s era” clause is wrong.
- Coincidental timescale. If the ~1,000-year markers prove unrelated to the sentence (the millennium-walking is decorative, the crime far older or far younger), the Void-Century anchor collapses.
Calibration note
Filed 0.55 — five distinct techniques would price ≈0.8 on density alone, but this is deliberately seated low in the under-exercised 0.5–0.7 band: the Zunisha’s Ancient Crime thread carries only one on-page evidence chapter connection OPEN. The existence of an ancient, obedience-clause sentence is firmly seeded; the specific Joy-Boy-era allegiance and the nature of the crime carry heavy uncertainty (the WHY is unrevealed even at the corpus frontier). Forward-safe: the Zunisha↔Joy-Boy tie is not on-page at or before 0917. Not a universal-quantifier or canon-inversion claim.
