Chapter 515: Adventure on the Island of Women

Summary

Luffy wakes in a prison on Amazon Lily, an island-nation inhabited only by women, where an iron law forbids men to set foot on pain of death. He was flung here when Kuma scattered the Straw Hats at Sabaody, then poisoned by a wild mushroom and saved by the warrior Marguerite. The women, who have never seen a man, swing between fascination and horror; when Luffy shouts “I’m a man!!”, the stern warrior Kikyo orders him executed. Luffy bursts out of the prison to recover the vivre card still in his old pants — his only link to his scattered crew — snatching Marguerite to question her. She returns the homing paper, watches it “move,” and tells him about the island’s ruler: the Pirate Empress Boa Hancock, the “Snake Princess,” strongest and most beautiful woman in the world, who with her two sisters protects the nation and captains an all-female pirate crew. The chapter closes as Hancock’s ship is sighted returning to the island and the warriors scramble to settle the “incident” before she arrives.
