Wapol’s witch + insurgent + Straw Hats triad is the local-resistance framing in his own words — and it’s wrong. He counts Dalton already eliminated; forward-canon, Dalton survives the Bighorn massacre and remains the conscientious civilian-guard protector who completes the arc’s anti-monarchy resolution. The reportedly-dead beat is a negative-space foreshadowing technique: the villain’s confidence in his enemy’s death is the structural setup for the enemy’s return. This sets up the Dalton-as-late-arc-protector payoff that lands when the Bighorn villagers and Dalton reunite for the final stand.
