- English compound 'cocoa + weed' (chocolate plant + weed/herb). Drum Island village-names form a sweets/food-naming chamber — Bighorn (bighorn sheep), Gyasta (Italian *gelato* ice cream), Robelu (cf. roux/relish), and Cocoaweed (cocoa) all cluster around food/sweet themes appropriate to the Confectionary-Drum-cake-design island. Hot-chocolate as warming-drink also matches the winter-island climate.

Profile
A town on Drum Island (Drum Kingdom), named on-page in Ch. 134 (p. 12 — “the neighboring town of Cocoaweed”). A small snowbound settlement with a tavern/shop run by a put-upon shopkeeper. It is where Dr. Kureha crashes through the tavern wall to treat a constantly-crying child, Tama (pp. 12-18) — the chapter’s introduction-scene for both Kureha and her reindeer companion Tony Tony Chopper. The town is described as neighboring relative to the snowfields the Straw Hats are crossing.

- Ch. 134 — first appearance. A shopkeeper struggles with the constantly-crying child Tama; the townsfolk send for a doctor (“Dalton! Dalton!”) and word comes that the witch is near. Dr. Kureha crashes the tavern wall (“I’m coming in!!”), diagnoses Tama’s bacteria in your bones, performs brusque surgery, and charges extortionate fees. - Ch. 135 — Dalton’s doctor-search and Wapol’s return reaches town. Cocoaweed is signposted at a crossroads alongside Bighorn (p. 3). Dalton’s bighorn-ram-sled rescue party tracks the island’s lone doctor here and learns she has already moved on, heading for the northern town of Gyasta (p. 16). As the party prepares to follow, a man bursts in with news of Wapol’s return — “A submersible ship suddenly appeared out of the sea and its crew killed everybody!! …He’s back!!!! WAPOL!” (p. 17) — ending the chapter on the kingdom’s fragile peace shattering.
