Profile
The Yami Yami no Mi (VIZ “Dark-Dark Fruit”), a Logia, eaten by Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teach), demonstrated in full for the first time at the Banaro Island duel (Ch. 441). Called “the most dangerous power in the history of all Devil Fruit powers.”
Mechanics shown on-page (pp. 5-14):
- Darkness = infinite gravity. “A darkness so dense it sucks in everything, even light.” Technique Black Hole swallows an entire town into the ground; Liberation ejects the crushed debris in one explosive blast.
- Absorbs all pain, amplified. Unlike other Logia, Teach cannot turn to element to avoid attacks — his body takes (and worsens) damage. Ace’s fire burns him (“HOT! HOT! HOT!”). The fruit’s signature weakness.
- Nullifies other Devil Fruits by touch. While Teach is touching an opponent, “a Devil Fruit user loses their powers” — Logia, Zoan, and Paramythia users are turned “back into ordinary, weak human beings.” His Black Vortex gravity can pull a user’s actual body in.

Power limits & weaknesses
- Universal: water/sea immobilization (canon DF axiom).
- No element-body dodge. Unique among Logia, the Yami Yami user does NOT phase attacks as element — the darkness absorbs strikes and amplifies the pain, so Teach can be (and is) hurt directly (Ace’s fire burns him, Ch. 441 pp. 11-14).
Lore & theories
The Yami Yami’s absorbing/nullifying nature feeds two open mysteries:
- Blackbeard Multiple Fruits — the leading “absorb” theory holds that the fruit’s black-hole pull is the mechanism by which Teach later wields a second Devil Fruit. This chapter is the on-page foundation for that reading.
- Nature of Devil Fruits — first on-page claim that one fruit’s power can cancel any other fruit’s power by direct contact, a new axis on the Logia/Zoan/Paramythia class system.
