Why this family matters (plot weight)

The line holds a legendary devil fruit passed down through the Elbaf royal line — a hereditary heirloom fruit. Prince Loki murdered King Harald to inherit/eat that fruit (Ch. 1130, p. 11), and was sentenced to crucifixion as “the Accursed Prince” whose unleashing is prophesied to “bring the world to ruin.” Loki then declares himself “the Sun God who brings the world to an end” — wiring the royal line into the Sun-God / Void-Century divine-fruit lore. The Harald→Loki regicide is expanded Ch. 1136: before Loki’s birth, King Harald prophesied his own son would kill him — fulfilled when Loki murdered him in his castle (and stabbed Chief Jarul in the head). Harald is described as “the greatest king in Elbaf history,” the reformer “who tried to connect Elbaph with the other countries of the world”; the queen died a year after Loki’s birth. The line becomes a two-brother fault line Ch. 1137: Hajrudin is revealed as King Harald’s other son — Loki’s half-brother, born to a woman from a different giant nation before Harald married the queen; Elbaf’s bigotry (“giants from other areas tarnish the blood of Elbaf”) denied her the throne (pp. 7–9). Where Loki is the monstrous patricide, Hajrudin is the honest half-brother who dreams of uniting all of giant-kind (“I’m the man who will be King of all giants!!!”). Xebec to join the Rocks Pirates and always refused; Rocks called Harald “my pal.” Young Loki’s mother (Estrid) is dead and Harald neglected him (“his dad is too busy to stay home”), feeding Loki’s desire to run off with Rocks — whom he idolized (pp. 12–17). Ch. 1167 — the succession dispute

Ida (outsider, Harald’s partner) raised both Loki and Hajrudin (“Ida’s sons”). Harald sought to make her his “true wife”/queen.
Estrid’s pure-blood clan of Brewers Village rejected an outsider queen and poisoned Ida with ergot spores. Loki’s birth-mother Estrid had “cast him out of the tree into the Underworld” (pp. 14-17). See The Truth of the Aurust Castle Massacre.

The truth of Harald’s death; “Elbaf is D” (Ch. 1171)
