Queen Estrid, King King Harald’s “true betrothed” — of “pure and ancient blood,” from the Brewers Village to the north; a geomancer obsessed with luck/fortune, feng-shui-like rituals, and hoarding wealth. Mother of Prince Loki. Horrified by newborn Loki’s monstrous appearance (and a prophecy that Harald would be killed by his own son), she declared the infant stillborn, denied him, and had him cast into the Underworld — the true origin of “Loki’s Curse.” She IS “the late queen” who died a year after giving birth to Loki (established Ch. 1136).
