Wapols Omnivorous Rampage
Wapol’s post-Drum vagrant cover serial, running on the title pages
of the Skypiea arc. The serial CONCLUDES at its labeled FINAL CHAPTER on the
Ch. 262 cover — “THE BIG EVIL IS BACK! WAPOL SETS HIS SIGHTS ON THE
WORLD,” showing Wapol triumphant amid “WAPOL”-branded merchandise and “WORLD
CHAMPION” imagery (the rags-to-riches toy-magnate reversal completed). status is
set to concluded as of Ch. 0262. After his deposition and exile from Drum Kingdom
(now the Sakura / Cherry Blossom Kingdom under Dalton), a
fruit-fallen Wapol eats his way across the world as a wandering have-not. Each
installment overlays a European fairy-tale register (Andersen, etc.) on the
deposed tyrant’s begging-and-gnawing routine — the Munch-Munch (Baku Baku)
king reduced to eating trees, lamps, and benches to survive.
The serial tracks Wapol’s slow rags-to-riches reversal: from gnawing scenery → captured by Marines → fleeing with his last retainers (Chess, Kuromarimo) → “a king no more,” begging in foreign ports. Read in parallel, the Vol. 7 installment (“King Dalton of the Cherry Blossom Kingdom”) confirms on-cover that Dalton now rules the kingdom Wapol lost — the cover serial is the connective tissue between the Drum arc’s resolution and Wapol’s eventual comeback.

- Ch. 241 — no Wapol cover. P. 1 is a decorative “yo-ho! ONE PIECE”-header title splash (artist sketching a bird); does not advance the Vol.-N counter.
- Ch. 246 — no Wapol cover. Pp. 1–2 are a decorative ”…Of the Forest of No Return” title splash (young Luffy with a cat, Foosha-village windmill motif); does not advance the Vol.-N counter.
- Ch. 254 — no Wapol installment. P. 1–2 is a decorative two-page “ONE PIECE”-logo title splash for “Aubade” (“Excuse me Baby, No Parking On The Battleground” — Zoro/Robin/Usopp/Nami/Chopper charging in wartime-advance composition). The Vol. 17 installment lands on Ch. 0255, not 0254 (an earlier reader misread a leaf-bleed). The running count does not advance at 0254. (Image-verified.)
- Ch. 260 — no Wapol installment. The title page is a stylized two-page jazz-band/gangster title splash for “Pirate Luffy” (decorative chapter title art; see Skypiea-Chapter-Title-Page-One-Offs), not a cover-comic strip. The running “Vol. N” count does not advance — it skips from Vol. 21 (0259) to Vol. 22 (0261), then the FINAL CHAPTER (0262).
Coverage / numbering
- Vol. 1 is not present in chapters 0218–0247. The serial’s first vault-confirmed installment is Vol. 2 (Ch. 0237). Vol. 1 must precede Ch. 0237 — but no chapter read in this batch (back to 0218) carries a Wapol installment (0229–0236 are decorative title splashes / the Sanji-at-home one-shot). Flagged as a back-fill candidate: Vol. 1 likely sits in a chapter just before 0237 not yet re-read, or was a cover-corner inset. Do not assume Ch. 0236 — that page is Chapter Title Page Series #5, unrelated.
- The printed Vol. N count advances only on chapters carrying an installment; 0241 and 0246 (no installment) do not advance it. Vols. 2→10 map cleanly to Ch. 0237→0247 with the two gaps removed.
- Vols. 11→22 now image-verified: every caption from Ch. 0248–0261 was read directly off the printed cover (page-001.jpg). The sequence is contiguous except for Ch. 0254 (a decorative Aubade title splash). The earlier note that Vol. 18’s number was “to reconcile” is now resolved — the whole 11→22→FINAL run is confirmed.
Forward-payoff hook
- King Dalton (Vol. 7, Ch. 0243) is the one installment that already lands a main-arc fact on-cover: Dalton’s coronation as ruler of the renamed Cherry Blossom / Sakura Kingdom. This is the Drum-arc epilogue delivered through the cover serial — a soft cover→main confirmation rather than a full payoff.
