The longest cover-story arc of the East Blue saga. Tracks Buggy and his crew offstage after their defeat at Orange Town (Ch. 20–Ch. 21). Runs ~26 numbered “Parts” plus a “Final Episode,” with sub-arcs starring Richie (the cover-story’s “Ritchie’s Pirate Crew” spin-off) and the “Mystery Woman” who proves to be a post–Sube-Sube-no-Mi Alvida. The cover-arc directly seeds the Buggy-Alvida alliance that lands on-page at Loguetown (Ch. 99–Ch. 100) and structurally prefigures the later Cross Guild. A textbook cover→main-plot payoff.

• Ch. 33 — Part ~1 (first vault-visible installment): “HAPPY VICTORY” biplane mid-crash with Buggy and Mohji aboard. First confirmation Buggy survived the Gum-Gum Bazooka.
• Ch. 34 — Buggy Pirates as Bremen Town Musicians: Mohji on accordion, Richie and crew on assorted instruments around a “BREMENS”-labeled keyboard.
• Ch. 36 — Part 2 “Mohji and Cabaji”: post-defeat splash, Cabaji on his unicycle carrying an unconscious Mohji, bandaged Richie at their feet, smashed Buggy jolly-roger banner.
• Ch. 37 — Part 3 “Buggy’s Adventure”: Buggy washed up alone in a forest swamp with a single white duck, still in full pirate dress.
• Ch. 39 — Part 4 “Buggy and the Giant Bird”: Buggy stranded, screaming, being attacked by a saw-billed bird and its chicks. Fish-bones at his feet.
• Ch. 40 — Part 5 “A Game of Wits”: Buggy sits defeated covering his face; an unstriped duck stands above him. Buggy is losing a game-of-wits to the duck.
• Ch. 42 — Part 6 “A Trip Through the Sky”: Cabaji-styled outdoor meal with checkered tablecloth, ducks at the table, BOOOOPS! / TASTES BAD!! speech bubbles.
• Ch. 43 — Part 7 “The Island of Random Rare Animals”: Buggy stranded on an island of hybrid creatures (snake-rabbit, panda-bird in Buggy’s striped shorts, lion-pig).
• Ch. 46 — Part 8 “Decisive Duel in the Forest”: Buggy mid-leap with weapons drawn vs an animal opponent.
• Ch. 47 — Part 9 “You’re a Strange Creature, Too”: Buggy’s head atop a treasure chest in a moonlit clearing among Gaimon-Island-style hybrid creatures (the East-Blue-cover-arcs-share-geography tell).
• Ch. 48 — Part 10 “Farewell to Friends”: Buggy paddles a tiny single-occupant raft away from castaway companions on a distant beach.
• Ch. 49 — Part 11 “A New Friend” (chapter break-page side panel, formally Ch. 50 title-page).
• Ch. 50 — Part 11 “A New Friend”: Buggy stuck inside a giant clam, hat poking out, befriending two small fish-creatures.
• Ch. 51 — Part 12 “A Woman of Mystery”: tall blonde woman in pirate-captain regalia (skull-feather hat, flintlock pistol, striped pants) arrives at Buggy’s marooning site beside the empty Buggy-captain costume. First Mystery Woman appearance — strongly inferred to be post-Sube-Sube-no-Mi Alvida.
• Ch. 53 — Part 13 “Wanted”: post-transformation slim Alvida on a heart-themed ship railing, holding a ‘Search for…’ Buggy wanted poster. The two ex-arc-villain cover-story threads begin converging.
• Ch. 54 — Part 14 “Pirate Alliance”: Buggy and Alvida share wine at a small table on a heart-sail ship. First on-page panel showing the two East-Blue villain-captains together — the Buggy-Alvida confederation seed.
• Ch. 55 — Part 15 “Oh Captain, You’re in Our Hearts”: Mohji, Cabaji, and a small Buggy-officer gather around a wooden grave marker topped with Buggy’s pirate hat. Dramatic-irony pivot — the reader knows Buggy is alive; his officers think he’s dead.
• Ch. 57 — Part 16 “Duel to Decide the Next Captain”: Mohji (with Richie) vs Cabaji (on unicycle) in a dust-cloud arena. The B-plot escalates from survival to captaincy succession crisis.
• Ch. 58 — Part 17 “Intense 12-Hour Battle”: Buggy faces a silhouetted figure in a checkered cloak; bear-or-lion creature carries an injured Richie. Reunion-with-the-crew beat signaled.
• Ch. 59 — Part 18 “Rampage!! Sleepwalking Ritchie”: Richie mid-roar with eyes closed (sleepwalking), Mohji waving from a small moonlit ship-deck inset. Cover-arc pivots from Buggy-solo to Buggy-Pirates-members-separately.
• Ch. 60 — Part 19 “Complete!! Ritchie’s Pirate Crew”: Richie roars in pose with a tiny Buggy-flag and Buggy’s cape, Buggy reduced to a thought-bubble overhead. The crew Buggy assembled has been rebadged as Ritchie’s crew. The “captain who lost his crew has been replaced by the crew’s most prominent member” — emotional payoff of the 19-part survival saga.
• Ch. 62 — Adventures of Ritchie’s Pirate Crew Part 1 “The Indigenous Kumate Tribe!”: cover-arc formally hands off to Ritchie-as-protagonist; introduces the Kumate Tribe; Buggy now only a thought-bubble figure.
• Ch. 63 — Part 22 “The Last Adventure of Ritchie’s Pirate Crew: The Fall of Ritchie’s Pirates”: Mohji returns at Ritchie’s side; “Fall of Ritchie’s Pirates” begins. First re-introduction of an original Buggy-Pirates officer to the cover-arc since Ch. 21.
• Ch. 65 — Part 20 “Discovery! Our Pirate Ship!!!”: Mystery Woman (Alvida) and Richie at a ship’s wheel sharing a thought-bubble of the galleon they just discovered. Cover-arc pivots from survival to acquisition — the marooned ensemble has a ship.
• Ch. 66 — Part 21 “An Unhappy Reunion”: Buggy stands silently over a beaten, bloody Richie. The Ritchie-as-fake-captain plot reaches its rupture beat.
• Ch. 67 — Part 22 “Ritchie au Vin”: Buggy, Mohji, Cabaji reunited and cooking Richie in a stew pot together. Off-page Buggy/Mohji/Cabaji reunion confirmed.
• Ch. 68 — Part 23 “Suspicious Parts”: Mohji-and-Cabaji-coded silhouettes loom over a small uncertain Buggy figure; question-mark frame. Original Buggy officers approaching the cover-arc’s wandering survivor.
• Ch. 71 — Part 24 “BODY PARTS RUN AMUCK!!”: chaotic tableau of Buggy’s disembodied parts (nose flying, segments tumbling), crewmates dodging in terror/comedy.
• Ch. 72 — Part 25 “Mysterious Figures in the East”: Buggy and Mohji terrified by silhouettes approaching from the east — Alvida sub-arc converges onto Buggy’s island.
• Ch. 73 — Part 26 “Sorry to Keep You Waiting!!”: Buggy front-and-center with Mohji to the left and the Mystery Woman (Alvida) to the right. Buggy reclaims his crew; Alvida joins the lineup.

• Ch. 75 — FINAL EPISODE: “Oh, Captain, My Captain!”: Buggy in massive heroic pose, fist-raised, surrounded by cheering crew (Cabaji, Mohji, an Alvida-coded female figure). Whitman quote as cover-title. The 20+-installment cover-arc closes as triumphant unified-crew tableau; Buggy is restored as captain.
• Ch. 99 — Buggy’s lion-themed enforcer Mohji and lion Richie reappear with the Buggy Pirates on-page at Loguetown; Mohji identifies “the Richie bike” as Richie. The cover-story’s reconstitution-of-the-crew premise is here paid off in main-text.
• Ch. 100 — COVER→MAIN-PLOT PAYOFF: Buggy + the Buggy Pirates + Alvida appear together on-page in Loguetown reacting to Luffy’s escape. Alvida is fully transformed (slim, glossy-skinned). They flee in the Chop-Chop Car and watch the Going Merry depart toward the Grand Line: “TO THE GRAND LINE!” (Buggy) / “HOW NOSTALGIC…” (Alvida). First canonical Buggy-Alvida operational alliance — the cover-story-arc finally lands as a combat-active alliance.
• Ch. 122 — Parade-continuation B-side splash: an Alvida-coded woman in bamboo-print Chinese dress flanked by two gorillas mounted with cannons wearing aviator goggles. Notes

• Structural ancestor of the Cross Guild (Buggy/Mihawk/Crocodile, post-Wano). The pirate-alliance concept itself is one of Oda’s most-developed late-series organizing principles; the Ch. 54 Pirate Alliance cover-card is its first seed.
• The cover-arc’s title evolved across sub-arcs: “Buggy’s Crew: After the Battle” (Parts 1-19), “Adventures of Ritchie’s Pirate Crew” (Ch. 62 spin-off), “The Final Episode” (Ch. 75), and a post-Loguetown parade-format (Ch. 122 onward).
• Alvida’s “How nostalgic…” line (Ch. 100) is the first hint her pre-Romance-Dawn backstory may include Grand-Line experience.
