  • GECKO MORIA gets his full bio-box reveal: one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, FORMER BOUNTY 320,000,000 berries, motto 'Rely on others,' favorite line 'You do it' (p. 13).
  • MORIA's power is named: the KAGE-KAGE NO MI (Shadow-Shadow Fruit) — he cuts shadows from people and presses them into corpses (marionettes) to create zombies that retain the original owner's personality and battle abilities, while physical strength depends on the corpse's body (pp. 8-10).
  • DR. HOGBACK is confirmed as the famous physician who 'went missing' to work for Moria, building powerful zombie bodies from the parts of various creatures and keeping a freezer of preserved marionette corpses of legendary warriors (pp. 8-9).
  • BROOK's Thriller Bark backstory: his rudder broke and the current carried his ship into the Florian Triangle ~5 years ago; he was captured and personally witnessed Moria removing a martial-arts dancer's shadow and pressing it into a marionette corpse, which then moved (pp. 5-8).
  • BROOK reveals he 'would soon suffer the same fate' — i.e. HIS OWN shadow was also stolen by Moria (p. 7).
  • BROOK demonstrates an anti-zombie technique: his cursed music drives the stolen soul/shadow out of a zombie ('I purified it'), returning it to its original master and melting the body; he defeats the spider-zombie Captain TARALAN (pp. 2-4).
  • MORIA's ambition stated: he wants to become the Pirate King using an obedient zombie army (pp. 13-14).
  • LUFFY is held in a cage at Moria's dance hall and is the THIRD Straw Hat captured (after Zoro and Sanji); PERONA's 'Negative Hollow' ghosts plunge him into suicidal depression; MORIA then cuts out Luffy's shadow with giant scissors to make 'the strongest special zombie in the history of the world' from a 300-million-berry bounty (pp. 14-19).

Summary

Brook, fighting alongside the free Straw Hats Robin and Franky, defeats the spider-zombie Captain Taralan by using his cursed music to drive the stolen soul out of the zombie — “purifying” it and returning the soul to its original master. With the zombies’ weakness exposed, Brook finally explains Thriller Bark: it is the lair of Warlord Gecko Moria, who wields the Kage-Kage no Mi (Shadow-Shadow Fruit) to cut shadows from living people and press them into corpses built by the runaway surgeon Dr. Hogback, creating obedient zombies that keep the original owner’s personality and combat abilities. Brook recounts being shipwrecked into the Florian Triangle five years ago, witnessing the shadow-theft firsthand, and implies his own shadow was taken too. Meanwhile, in Moria’s dance hall, the lazy Warlord is revealed in full (former bounty 320 million; he makes others do everything) and is told that Luffy is the third Straw Hat captured. Luffy bites through his cage to escape, but Perona’s “Negative Hollow” ghosts crush his spirit, and Moria personally snips out Luffy’s shadow to forge “the strongest special zombie in history.”
