The batch surfaces Scopper Gaban — “the Left Arm of the Pirate King,” last-seen alongside Rayleigh at Roger’s side — hiding on Elbaf as “Mr. Ya, the Mountain-Eater.” He guards the key to Loki’s chains (Ch. 1139), spars Luffy for it (Ch. 1140), fights beside Robin to defend the Owl Library, warns repeatedly that “Elbaf may not be intact when you leave,” and anchors the God-Valley flashback (Ch. 1156). The prediction: like Rayleigh at Sabaody, Gaban is the arc’s Roger-legacy conduit — he will pass the Straw Hats load-bearing Void-Century truth and/or a step on the Road-Poneglyph/Laugh-Tale trail (Elbaf being a plausible Road-Poneglyph site and the Owl Library holding Ohara’s rescued books). Ch. 1189 closes with a wild-haired, uncaptioned old swordsman physically blocking Imu’s killing blow — “GA-CHING!!” (p. 17), the chapter’s last panel before “To be continued!” The vault carries the figure as Gaban, but 1189 never names him; the identification is confirmed only in Ch. 1190. This does not settle the prediction. The claim’s own success criterion is a knowledge handoff — “load-bearing Void-Century truth and/or a step on the A block is not a hand-over; no Void-Century or Road-Poneglyph content passes to the Straw Hats here.

⚠ Reasoning correction (1188-1189 VIZ reconcile sweep, 2026-09-08): this entry was written off a TCB fan-scanlation and opened on a caption — “THE LEFT WING OF THE PIRATE KING HAS ARRIVED!!” (p. 14) — that exists on no VIZ page; VIZ 1189 p. 17 carries no caption at all. Gaban’s real epithet is “the Left Arm of the Pirate King” (Ch. 1190; and on-page from Usopp Ch. 1192 p. 11, “Hey! Left arm of the King of Pirates!!”). The 0.62 → 0.55 drop is unaffected: it was driven by the accumulating “purely martial” refuter below, and the corrected beat — a wordless combat intercept rather than a heralded arrival — is if anything more martial and less of a handoff than the phantom caption implied. The scalar is left where the scorer put it.

Confidence drops modestly because the “purely martial” refuter has been quietly accumulating across the whole 1158–1189 window: Gaban’s on-page function has been combat and Holy-Knight tactical lore, not Roger-era history. His covenant-tier and “Supreme-King-Haki is their weakness” explanations (Ch. 1169, Ch. 1170) are (a) Elbaf/Holy-Knight mechanics, not Void Century, and (b) delivered to Shanks in flashback, not to the Straw Hats. His function this chapter is (a) a mentor’s scolding-thesis delivered to Luffy — “THE KING OF THE PIRATES IS A TITLE FOR THOSE WHOSE DEATH BRINGS CELEBRATION!!” / “ON THIS SEA, THE HIGHER YOU RISE, THE MORE ENEMIES YOU HAVE.” (VIZ p.6), with the rider that if Luffy imagines the crown is “nothing but peace and sunshine and rainbows” he should go home — and (b) a direct duel with Imu’s true form (Gate of God / Yachi…Takeru — VIZ lettering; TCB read these as “Kamudo / Grim Throng / 8000 Slash”, the meito Honebami Toshiro + labrys axe). Neither is the predicted knowledge handoff: no Void-Century truth, no Road-Poneglyph pointer, no Laugh-Tale-trail content passes to the Straw Hats. The claim’s own success bar is unmet.

Two-sided read. The success criterion — a knowledge handoff (Void-Century truth and/or a Road-Poneglyph / Laugh-Tale pointer passed to the Straw Hats) — is unmet for a third consecutive scoring window, and this pair of chapters supplies the first affirmative evidence for the refuters rather than mere absence.

Refuter #1 (“he withholds by design”) fires partially, in dialogue. Ch. 1191 p.3: Luffy apologises for the lost arm — “It’s only because you were defending me…” — and Gaban cuts him off: “Don’t be stupid!! I’ve lost my hope in you… KOFF!! I was fighting for Elbaph’s sake!!” That is the Rayleigh-conduit premise repudiated by the candidate conduit himself, on-page, to the intended recipient. It is not the full refuter (he does not say he is withholding lore, and Roger-Pirate tsundere register is a real reading of the line — he is bleeding out shielding Luffy while he says it), so it does not settle the note. But it is materially worse for the claim than thirty chapters of silence.

Refuter #2 (“purely martial”) keeps compounding. Both chapters are combat. Gaban’s on-page output is an arm severed by Imu’s Honebami (@1191 pp.3, 9), a name for the enemy (“Who he is… is not something anyone ought to know!! If I had to call him anything, it’d be… …God.”, p.4), a tactical verdict (“But he’s immortal. There’s no way to win… / Help Straw Hat Luffy escape!!”, p.13), and a one-liner at Imu’s scale (“This one’s extra big”, Ch. 1192 p.12). The “God” and “immortal” lines are the closest thing to lore he has given the Straw Hats directly — and they are combat assessment of a present enemy, explicitly framed as knowledge that should not be transmitted, not Void-Century history or Laugh-Tale cartography.

The other direction, honestly recorded: Usopp opens a channel to him for the first time — “Hey! Left arm of the King of Pirates!!… Thank you for protecting Luffy” (@1192 p.11) — so a Straw Hat is now addressing him as a Roger Pirate rather than as an obstacle. The conduit could still open. But the arc is deep into its climax with Gaban one-armed and the crew nowhere near a poneglyph, and the Rayleigh-at-Sabaody shape is now conspicuously overdue. Ch. 1188 and Ch. 1189 have been re-read from the official VIZ release. The ⚠ Reasoning correction block already embedded in the 2026-07-25 entry above covers this note’s main exposure (the fabricated “THE LEFT WING OF THE PIRATE KING HAS ARRIVED!!” caption, its bogus p.14 cite, and the re-sourcing of the intercept to VIZ p.17). Re-read and re-verified this pass; the block’s assessment is correct and its decision to leave the scalar alone was right. Two additions:

1188 contributes nothing to this note either way. Gaban does not appear. Worth stating explicitly because the TCB read of 1188 invented an “elderly bearded Elbaf giant” who intervened to protect the downed Loki — a figure that could plausibly have been mistaken for an aged Roger-era ally. It is Luffy in the giant Gum-Gum Genie form (p.10), and the one genuine old giant in the chapter is an unidentified figure sitting in the ice-field beside Brook (p.13). No Gaban, no proxy, no handoff.
The corrected 1189 makes the intercept even more purely martial than recorded. VIZ p.17 is a wordless block — Imu’s “Thou shouldst be honored to die… …by the weapons that created the world!!” answered only by “GA-CHING!!” from an uncaptioned swordsman. No herald, no line, no lore. Refuter #2 (“purely martial”) is marginally better supported at 1189 than the phantom-caption version suggested, exactly as the correction block anticipated.

Observation logged, deliberately not priced — adjacent contamination at Ch. 1190. The 2026-08-17 entry above is labelled “(TCB)” and credited Gaban with “I learned from Joy Boy’s own words”, reading it as “an explicit tell that a living Roger Pirate holds Void-Century-era, Joy-Boy-sourced knowledge the crew could still inherit.” 1190 has since been re-captured from VIZ too, and the page reads “THE WORDS OF JOYBOY.” immediately followed by “BUT DON’T GET IT TWISTED. / WE’RE NOT BLINDLY OBEDIENT TO SOME MAN FROM THE PAST WE’VE NEVER MET BEFORE!!” (p.9). Gaban is disclaiming personal acquaintance with Joy Boy, not asserting it — so the “weak support for the conduit premise” that entry logged is weaker still. I am not moving the scalar for it: 1190 falls outside this reconcile’s 1188/1189 remit, and the 2026-09-07 drop to 0.50 was already priced against the corrected VIZ 1190–1192 record.
