The claim
Scopper Gaban — 'Mr. Ya, the Mountain-Eater,' Roger's surviving 'left arm,' now living on Elbaf under an alias — is a load-bearing Roger-era witness who will hand the Straw Hats crucial Void-Century / Laugh-Tale knowledge (and/or a Road-Poneglyph pointer), the way Rayleigh's Sabaody handoff worked; his repeated 'Elbaf may not be intact when you leave' / 'don't overstay your welcome' warnings and the God-Valley flashback he anchors (@1156-1157) mark him as the arc's Roger-legacy conduit. Collun's 'I'm the son of Gaban' claim (@1144) extends that will into the next generation. FORWARD-GUARD: the actual knowledge/Road-Poneglyph handoff lands past 1157.

That Gaban is a Roger Pirate living on Elbaf as “Mr. Ya,” holds the key to Loki’s chains (Ch. 1139Ch. 1140) and anchors the God-Valley flashback is on-page. This note predicts the unstated role: he becomes a Rayleigh-class Roger-legacy conduit who passes the crew Void-Century / Laugh-Tale knowledge. That handoff lands past 1157.

The claim

Reasoning

Converging techniques (4 distinct)

  • chekhov-explicit — Gaban is planted as a decisive obstacle/ally (the chain-key duel) and openly warns of a coming Elbaf catastrophe, marking him as a load-bearing piece. See Scopper Gaban Warns Elbaf May Not Be Intact When The Straw Hats Leave.
  • dialogue-from-dead-character — his and Louis Arnot’s “don’t overstay your welcome” warnings carry the Roger-era, voices-of-the-past register the vault treats as prophecy. See Louis Arnot Warning Do Not Overstay Your Welcome In Elbaf.
  • name-etymology — “Mr. Ya / Serya / the Mountain-Eater” aliases and Collun’s “son of Gaban” claim encode a hidden Roger-Pirate identity and an inheritance line. See Collun Claims To Be The Son Of Gaban.
  • prop-tell — the chain-key he holds and the warship “Great Erik” he commands are the props that stage him as the crew’s gatekeeper to Elbaf’s buried history.

Supporting evidence

What would refute this

  • He withholds by design. Roger-Pirate discretion (“leave it to the young generation”) means Gaban refuses to spoon-feed — the crew reaches Laugh-Tale without his lore, and his role is purely to test them.
  • Purely martial. Gaban’s function is Elbaf’s defence (the Great Erik charge), not an information handoff; the Laugh-Tale trail runs entirely through Robin and the poneglyphs.
  • Collun is a gag. The “son of Gaban” line is a comedy/boast beat, not a real lineage, and carries no inherited will.

Calibration note

Filed 0.62 — four converging techniques (≈0.7 on the table), discounted because the content of any handoff is wide-open (Void-Century fact vs. Road-Poneglyph vs. nothing) and the “he withholds” refuter is a live Oda pattern. Deliberately in the 0.5–0.7 band. Not a universal-quantifier or canon-inversion claim.
