• Vol. 3 — “Unexpectedly Alive” (Ch. 316): Gedatsu sits cross-legged on a Blue-Sea riverbank, three Jet-Dial exhaust trails rising from his head, beside a Blue-Sea local in an onsen (♨) shirt — “Goro the Hole Digger” — with food and sake laid out. Confirms Gedatsu survived his fall from Skypiea to the Blue Sea.
• Vol. 4 — “Goro the Hole Digger’s Dream is Hot Spring Island” (Ch. 318): Gedatsu hangs upside-down on the porch of a small stone bathhouse; two figures on the deck. The hot-spring-island goal is set.
• Vol. 5 — “I’ve Decided to Become the Boss of the Blue Sea” (Ch. 319): Gedatsu (mohawk, angel wings) seated on a barrel in a tavern across from a blond man, a third figure between them. Declares his ambition.
• Vol. 6 — “Don’t forget to breathe when you spend the day digging, Master Gedatsu” (Ch. 320): Gedatsu and a thin man face off across a field with a pickaxe and a tool, smoke/steam rising — the running “Master Gedatsu, remember to [basic bodily function]” reminder gag (a callback to Gedatsu’s airheaded forgetfulness).
• Vol. 7 — “You Have to Eat With Your Mouth on a Day of Digging, Master Gedatsu” (Ch. 321): Gedatsu eats on a crate, a small old companion beside a steaming pot; sun-faces hover. Reminder-gag continues.
• Vol. 8 — “Don’t Forget to Blink While You Dig, Master Gedatsu” (Ch. 322): Gedatsu digs with a shovel beside a smaller figure, exhaust/steam behind.
• Vol. 9 — “You Must Bathe After Digging So Many Holes, Master Gedatsu” (Ch. 323): Gedatsu and another digger heat a large 風呂 (bath) barrel — the bathhouse/onsen motif takes over. (Chapter-title editor note: “kanji says ‘bath.’”)
• Vol. 10 — “Stand on the Ground While You Dig, Master Gedatsu” (Ch. 324): Gedatsu hung upside-down by his ankle and swung overhead by a younger man wielding a pickaxe; “GAKIN!!!” as the pick strikes his head. (A small coda panel of Gedatsu being struck — “FWOP!! EW! SLUP” — recurs in the chapter’s lower right.)
• Vol. 11 — “Unexpectedly, I Struck Upon Something” (Ch. 325): Two figures (hammer-bearer + digger) silhouetted against a black underground mass, with Gedatsu’s Skypiean “ŞŞŞ” steam-puff signature. Sets up the buried “Earth Boss.”
• Vol. 12 — “I Unexpectedly Awakened the Legendary Boss of the Earth” (Ch. 326): Gedatsu “ZZUU…nn!!” rouses an enormous mole/earth-beast in a cavern — the Earth Boss is introduced.

• Vol. 13 — “The Sky Boss vs. the Earth Boss” (Ch. 328): Gedatsu lands a “JET PUNCH!!” with a huge “DOKAHN!!” — the two-boss brawl. (Gedatsu = the “Sky Boss.”)
• Vol. 14 — “I Unexpectedly Brought Him Down” (Ch. 329): Gedatsu triumphantly raises his arms over the felled Earth Boss.
• Vol. 15 — “I Made It My Slave and Unexpectedly Altered Its Helmet” (Ch. 330): Close-up of Gedatsu’s blank face under an altered hard-hat marked 番 (“guard/number”); a rising-sun-style flag behind. The Earth Boss is now his subordinate.
• Vol. 16 — “Dig, Dig, Earth Boss” (Ch. 331): Gedatsu burrows head-first into the earth (mole-mound spray), in his Skypiean kasa-style helmet.
• Vol. 17 — “We Hit Paydirt—Hurrah!” (Ch. 332): Gedatsu in a geyser-dotted marsh flashing peace signs, two tiny human figures distant; “DOK AHN!!” (A separate lower-tier coda gag — frog/raft creatures, “Go, Merry! Full speed ahead!!” — also runs.)
• Vol. 18 — “The Explosion Brings Out the Forest Boss” (Ch. 333): Gedatsu (arms raised) with two companions and a penguin-like figure amid smoke and saguaro-style cacti — the Forest Boss is introduced.
• Vol. 19 — “The Sky Boss Who Made the Forest Boss His Henchman” (Ch. 335; continuity inset @ Ch. 334): Gedatsu reclines atop/beside a huge bandanna-wearing boar-like forest creature in a misty wood. The Forest Boss is subjugated. (See the Vol. 19 reconciliation warning above.)
• Vol. 20 — “Leave the forest boss in charge of the island and keep digging, Earth Boss” (Ch. 336): A turtle/creature in a numbered cap; Gedatsu delegates to his “Boss” henchmen and presses on with the dig.
• Vol. 21 — “The Unexpected Arrival at the Desert Oasis” (Ch. 337): Gedatsu (helmet “BOSS”/番; “SAND” t-shirt per ed. note) arrives at a desert oasis with palms, a stranded sea-train-like craft, and townsfolk — the strip pivots toward an Alabasta-flavored desert locale.
• Vol. 22 — “Goro, Koza’s Uncle and Toh-Toh’s Little Brother, Returns Home by Chance” (Ch. 338): Three Alabasta-flavored men at an oasis — a turbaned elder, a blond suited man, and a bare-chested onsen-marked man — chatting. Ties the Blue-Sea local “Goro” into the Alabasta family tree: explicitly uncle of Koza and little brother of Toh-Toh — a cross-arc cover wink linking the Skypiean castaway’s host to the Alabasta cast.
• Vol. 23 — “The Hot Springs Inspection Squad” (Ch. 339): Gedatsu (winged headgear, 番 helmet) flanked by three Blue-Sea companions and a turtle on a tropical beach.
• Vol. 24 — “On Our Return, We Were Startled by the Forest Boss’s Big Project” (Ch. 340): A Japanese-style public bathhouse (“BATHS”; “MEN” / “WOMEN” doors; flag “UNEXPECTED BATHS”) with Gedatsu’s silhouette and frog/forest characters — the Forest Boss has built a bathhouse.
• Vol. 25 — “A Tunnel to the Unexpected Hot Spring Island Opens in the Country of Sand” (Ch. 341): Gedatsu cheered by a crowd under an arch reading “UKKARI hot-spring island” — the desert oasis and the hot-spring island are joined by tunnel.
• Vol. 26 — “Pincers’s Ocean Floor Bus Service Begins” (Ch. 342): A grinning crab/bus contraption (“UKKARI” bathhouse motif; “Unexpected Baths” flag) drives across the ocean floor — transit to the resort opens.
• Vol. 27 — “The Princess and Her Entourage Pay a Visit” (Ch. 343): Bathhouse setting (男 men / 湯 baths / 女 women signage); Gedatsu and an entourage of three (one a curly-haired “princess”). The resort draws guests.
• Vol. 28 — “The Men’s Bath” (Ch. 344): A communal hot-spring scene — bathers in steaming pools, the men’s-bath wall, Gedatsu and entourage, a duck-billed figure up front.
• Vol. 29 — “The Women’s Bath” (Ch. 345): Gedatsu and a long-tongued companion at an outdoor bath/spa beneath an “UKKARI” sign.
• Vol. 30 — “Gedatsu, the Blue Sea Boss” (Ch. 346): Gedatsu enthroned behind the bathhouse counter (男 men / 湯 baths / 女 women), arms crossed, “DOOM!” — he has fully realized his “Boss of the Blue Sea” ambition (the title from Vol. 5).
• Vol. 31 — “That’s the Bath Attendant, Master Gedatsu” (Ch. 347): Title illustration is a screaming open-mouthed Gedatsu face framed by his trademark looping topknot strands; he is now the resort’s bath attendant — the airheaded ex-priest landed his “unexpected” Blue-Sea calling.
• FINAL VOLUME — “Drop by Accidental Baths on Hot Springs Island” (Ch. 348): The serial closes back where it built up: the “UKKARI” hot-springs town (湯 yu = hot water on the sign). Gedatsu (left) holds a staff beside a steaming bath while his Skypiea retainers (right) panic. Caption is explicitly the “FINAL VOLUME,” formally ending Gedatsu’s Unexpected Life on the Blue Sea — the ex-priest’s slapstick second life as the hot-spring island’s bath boss is his settled fate. The serial that ran the entire Water Seven main-plot stretch (Vols. 3–FINAL across 0316–0348) signs off here.
• (Post-finale coda — dog beauty-salon gag) (Ch. 351): A bonus one-panel installment that runs after the official “Final Volume” caption: an upscale dog beauty salon / grooming parlor where an elegant black dog in a feathered hat and pearls and a girl dog at the mirror look on while a scruffy Yorkshire-terrier “Gedatsu” is groomed on the floor — Gedatsu redrawn as a shaggy dog at the salon. No “Vol. N” caption; it reads as a farewell sight-gag riffing on the bathhouse/salon pampering motif, not a numbered serial entry.

Notes

• Status: CONCLUDED at Ch. 348 (the explicit “FINAL VOLUME” caption), with a post-finale dog-salon sight-gag coda at Ch. 351. This long-running decorative B-plot never merged into the main story — Gedatsu’s strip stays a self-contained Skypiea-castaway comedy and his Blue-Sea cast (Goro the Hole Digger, Earth/Forest Boss, the UKKARI resort) do not rejoin main canon in this batch. Hence no status: merged-into-main-plot, no payoff_chapter, and no Foreshadowing technique/cover-story-payoff entry is filed. (The only cross-arc wink is the Vol. 22 caption tying host “Goro” to the Alabasta family — Koza’s uncle / Toh-Toh’s brother — which is a one-line gag, not a main-plot payoff.)
