• Released by Magellan to fight Blackbeard (@0542), Shiryu instead appears at Blackbeard’s side at Level 1 (“Crimson Hell”) and identifies him by name — “You must be Blackbeard, Marshall D. Teech.” (p. 3). The jailers’ shock (“When were you released?!” / “Blackbeard and his men have betrayed us!!”) frames the betrayal.

Impel Down — released to fight Blackbeard (Ch. 542) — first clear on-page physical appearance

• First clear physical on-page appearance (p. 10, captioned “SHIRYU OF THE RAIN, Head Jailer of Impel Down”). Unable to call Navy reinforcements (all forces are at the Whitebeard war), Magellan releases him from death row to fight Blackbeard: “You’re on a reprieve from death row. There won’t be a next time.” Magellan: “I’ll leave Blackbeard to you” (p. 10).
