Firsts
  • Crocodile, Jimbei (Jinbei), Luffy, Ivankov and Inazuma escape Level 6 up a drill-shaped hole and ascend through Levels 5 and 4, freeing prisoners as they go to build a riot army for the breakout.
  • Caged former Head Jailer Shiryu offers Magellan his services to crush the breakout — 'You can't do anything right without me… I'm willing to help. Tell Magellan…' — angling to be released.
  • Ivankov's breakout doctrine: they must steal battleships to reach Navy HQ across the inescapable Calm Belt, so the more prisoners freed between Level 6 and Level 1, the higher their odds — only a handful are expected to reach the surface uncaught.
  • Crocodile recruits his old Baroque Works enforcer Mr. 1 (Daz Bones), a Level 4 inmate, into the escape.
  • Buggy and Mr. 3, after a 20-hour climb from Level 6 ('the Great Buggy & Mr. 3 Adventure') using Mr. 3's duplicate wax keys, disguise themselves as guards and incite a second riot on Level 2, with the prisoners hailing 'Captain Buggy our savior.'

Summary

The Impel Down breakout erupts. Luffy’s group has blasted a drill-shaped hole up out of Level 6, freed Crocodile and Jimbei, and is climbing toward the surface; the caged former Head Jailer Shiryu taunts the panicked guards and offers Magellan his help, while vice-warden Hannyabal sends all guards to Level 4 and summons Saldeath and Sadi. On Level 5’s Frozen Hell, Ivankov lays out the plan — steal battleships to cross the inescapable Calm Belt to Navy HQ, freeing every prisoner they can to swell the riot — and a re-energized Luffy charges ahead screaming. With the 3 p.m. execution looming and Ace already aboard the transport ship, Crocodile punches a hole down to Level 4’s Inferno Hell with his Sand-Sand powers, and the group (Luffy’s Gum-Gum Rain, Jimbei’s Fish-Man Karate: Arabesque Brick Fist, Crocodile’s Crescent Cutlass) tears through the guards. Crocodile frees and recruits his old subordinate Mr. 1 (Daz Bones). Meanwhile Buggy and Mr. 3, after a 20-hour climb from Level 6, disguise as guards and trigger a second riot on Level 2, the inmates declaring Buggy their savior. Ivankov uses Emporio Face Growth Synthesis on the freed army, and the swelling horde of “crazies” — unstoppable and dressed to kill — charges up behind Luffy toward the Navy Headquarters.
