Profile

Absalom’s Paramecia Devil Fruit, named on-page in Ch. 464 (by Sanji: “the invisible man of the Clear-Clear Fruit,” pp. 7-8). It turns the user invisible — and, crucially, anything the user touches is rendered invisible too, which is why Absalom can produce and aim his arm-bazookas and strike from nowhere while unseen. The power’s effects were shown well before the fruit was named: the unseen “beast” that boarded the Thousand Sunny (Ch. 444) and the invisible man who stalked Nami (Ch. 446/Ch. 447) were Absalom using this fruit. Sanji covets it as the realization of his childhood “secret dream” to become an invisible man — see Sanji Secret Dream To Become The Invisible Man.

Named techniques

(Absalom’s combat techniques — Mystery Man Handler and Mystery Man Kicker (Ch. 464), Hands of the Dead and Invisi-skating (Ch. 463) — are powered chiefly by his Hogback-augmented chimera body; the fruit supplies the invisibility utility. Absalom himself: “the Clear-Clear Fruit is nothing but an accessory to my true strength!!!”)

Lore & theories

The naming scene restates two canon Devil-Fruit rules quoted from the in-world Encyclopedia of Devil Fruits: every fruit is one-of-a-kind, and “each power comes with a curse” (Ch. 464 p. 8). Cross-link Nature of Devil Fruits, Absalom, Invisible Beast-Growling Intruder Aboard The Thousand Sunny.

  • Ch. 471: Absalom reasserts the fruit’s invisibility on-page — “I’m an invisible man” (p. 13) — immediately before being defeated by Nami; his last on-page use of the fruit before going down.
  • Ch. 1080: Re-captioned during the Fullalead breakout — Shiryu’s power is labelled “Clear-Clear Fruit, Invisible-Man” (p. 4) as he volunteers to chase the escaping Koby.
