Summary
The mass prison break tears upward through Impel Down. Buggy’s group reaches Level 1, Luffy’s swelling “Newkama” army of freed prisoners runs through Level 3’s starvation hell, and Warden Magellan — the “messenger from hell” — pursues in his poison-demon form. Unknown to anyone, Head Jailer Shiryu’s treachery has severed all of the prison’s outside communications, so the World Government still knows nothing; the escapees race a 4.5-hour clock to seize a ship and reach Ace’s execution at Marineford. Inazuma slices the stone staircases apart like paper to wall Magellan off while Ivankov stays behind to fight him, his makeup forming a poison-proof armor and his “Hair Removal Fist” buying time. Magellan breaks through anyway via Venom Road and his Hydra. At Level 1 the disparate riot factions converge around Luffy: Crocodile flattens the four awakened jailer beasts, Jinbei and the ex-Baroque Works officers (Mr. 1, Mr. 3, Bon Clay) join up — and when Magellan’s Hydra reaches them, Mr. 3 throws up a Candle Wall to shield the group, snarling that one little favor does not make them friends.
New reveals
- Shiryu’s treachery has severed all of Impel Down’s communications with the outside — “no information can leave the prison,” so the breakout is growing in severity entirely unknown to the World Government (p.5).
- Ace’s public execution at Marineford is set for four and a half hours out; the escapees’ plan is to capture one of the war/prison ships positioned around the prison and reach Marineford before then (p.5).
- An unnamed Impel Down officer counters that plan: he orders the surrounding ships to sail off immediately, denying the escapees a getaway vessel (p.18).
- Inazuma’s power can slice solid stone staircases apart like cut paper to wall off a pursuer (pp.7-8, 13).
- Ivankov is immune to Magellan’s melting poison thanks to a thick layer of makeup (“I’m protected by a thick layer of makeup!!”), and counters with New Kama Karate’s “Hair Removal Fist” (pp.11-12).
- The Level 1–4 breakout groups fuse into a single mass led by Straw Hat Luffy, now including Jinbei (a sitting Warlord), Crocodile (a former Warlord), the ex-Baroque Works officers, Buggy and Bon Clay (pp.15-16).

Open questions raised
- Will the escapees reach a ship before all of them sail off — and before Magellan stops them?
- Can Ivankov and Inazuma survive holding Magellan back?
- Will the breakout reach Marineford within the 4.5-hour window to save Ace?
- How far does Shiryu’s “treachery” go beyond cutting the prison’s communications?
