Summary
Three crises converge on Impel Down. At Marineford, Ace has been shackled onto the execution platform with roughly five hours left on the clock, and Sengoku’s Marines realize Blackbeard — whom they expected at the war — is nowhere to be found. He has instead brought his whole crew to Impel Down’s front gate, walking in under his Warlord cover (“I’m with the government now”) and screaming “LIBERATION!!” as he wipes out the guards. Warden Magellan, forbidden from requesting Navy reinforcements, takes a desperate measure: he releases the death-row Level 6 inmate Shiryu of the Rain — the prison’s former Head Jailer — returns his sword, and sends him to deal with Blackbeard. Meanwhile Luffy’s escape party (Jinbei, Crocodile, Bon Clay and freed prisoners) fights up through Level 4 Inferno Hell, smashing through Saldeath’s Blugori and the overpowering Jailer Beasts that Sadie unleashes, with Luffy and Jinbei finishing the beasts via a combined Gum-Gum Pistol / Fish-Man Karate Fist and Crocodile clearing the field with “Sables.”
New reveals
- Blackbeard exploits his newly granted Warlord seat to walk openly into Impel Down — a government facility — with hostile intent (“LIBERATION!!”), proving the seat is a key, not a leash.
- Magellan, cut off from Navy HQ reinforcements (all forces committed to the Whitebeard war), unseals death-row prisoner Shiryu of the Rain as his counter-measure against Blackbeard — “I’ve already taken a measure against him, even though it pained me to do so.”
- Shiryu is given his confiscated sword back; he is shown physically for the first time, walking out of Level 6 and casually cutting down jailers in his path.
- Ace is confirmed transported to Marineford and chained on the execution platform; execution is ~5 hours out.
- The Marines expected Blackbeard at Marineford for the war; his absence (“Blackbeard’s nowhere to be found!!”) is now a second emergency stacked on Luffy’s Impel Down riot.

Open questions raised
- Will Shiryu actually stop Blackbeard for Magellan — or use his freedom and his sword for his own ends?
- What exactly does Blackbeard want from Impel Down’s Level 6, and which “erased” prisoners is he after?
- Why did Blackbeard skip the Marineford war he was expected at?
- Can Magellan’s poison-sealed prison hold against simultaneous breakouts on Levels 2, 4 and the front gate?
