Profile
The Skypiean island that contains Angel Beach, where the Straw Hats arrive (Ch. 239). Built of Island Cloud and dotted with white domed buildings, palms, and cloud-bridges. Home to Conis and Pagaya; features beachfront milky-road chairs/slides, the Cloud Quarry nearby, and houses cut from Island Cloud (Ch. 240). It borders the Upper Yard, “so it’s easy to reach on a waver” — a proximity that becomes the chapter’s cliffhanger (Ch. 240 pp. 16–17).
Etymology
Descriptive, theme-name. “Angel Island” is named for the winged, halo-like “angel” iconography of the Skypiean people (inspector Amazon is “a pruney little angel,” Conis is the “Angel of Angel Beach”). It is one node in Skypiea’s coherent heaven/sky/angel naming web — alongside Angel Beach, Heaven’s Gate, “Godland,” and the worship-currency extol (“to extol/praise”). No deeper encoded pun is sourced, so confidence is medium (transparent theme-name, not a hidden reveal).
