Firsts
  • **Crocodile's first on-page visual appearance** (p. 14 — back-view at the Rain Dinners dinner table; p. 15 full-face reveal). After being NAMED-without-being-shown across Ch. 0113, 0114, 0126, 0127, 0130, Crocodile finally appears on-page in full: slicked-back black hair, vertical scar across face, fur-collared coat, **right hand replaced with a golden hook** (the limb-loss is wardrobe-visible from the moment of debut). Cigar in hand throughout. Pays off the entire Ch. 0113-0127 named-before-shown slow-drip; the visual debut now closes the Crocodile-identity-mystery.
  • **Crocodile's Devil Fruit named on-page — the *Sand-Sand Fruit*** (p. 18). Crocodile, to Vivi: *'As Princess of this kingdom, you must know... about my powers of the Sand-Sand Fruit.'* **First on-page utterance of the *Sand-Sand Fruit* name** — the Suna Suna no Mi. The fruit's effect: *'How would you like to become a mummy?'* — sand-desiccation extracts moisture from a living body until it mummifies. First on-page sand-element Devil Fruit. Forward-canon: this is the **Logia**-class Sand fruit; logia-class is not yet on-page named in this chapter.
  • **Robin's Devil Fruit named on-page — the *Flower-Flower Fruit*** (p. 7). Miss All Sunday (Nico Robin), in voice-only sand-attack aftermath: *'That's right. I ate the Flower-Flower Fruit. It gives me the power to make any part of my body blossom. Impressive, no?'* **First on-page utterance of the *Flower-Flower Fruit* (Hana Hana no Mi) name** in the series — payoff to the Ch. 0114 invisible-hand demo (Foreshadowing/Miss All Sunday Devil Fruit Invisible Hand Tell). The fruit-mechanic is now fully visible: she blooms full arms / heads from any surface, including from inside Pell's wing-feathers and around his neck/spine.
  • **Robin's Spanish-numeral *Fleurs* attack grammar debuts** (pp. 5, 9, 10). *Tres Fleurs* (3-arm sand-burial of Pell, p. 5: *'Tres Fleurs. Turn to Alabastan sand!!!'*) and *Seis Fleurs* (6-arm spine-submission-hold of Pell, p. 9: *'Seis Fleurs.'* / *'A SUBMISSION HOLD!?'* / *'They are useless against me.'* / *'CLUTCH!!!'*). First on-page Hana Hana named-techniques — establishes the Spanish-numeral-Fleurs naming-grammar that anchors Robin's entire forward-canon technique-set (Cien Fleurs, Mil Fleurs, etc.).
  • **Pell — *Alabasta's greatest warrior*, the falcon-zoan aerial fighter — debuts** (pp. 5-11). Pell ambushes Miss All Sunday in a zoan-falcon dive-attack (pp. 5-6, *THWUP THWUP THWUP / WHAP WHAP*) — Robin's first on-page Tres Fleurs intercepts him. *'Princess Vivi! You're all right!'* (p. 7). Submission-holded by Seis Fleurs (pp. 9-10, *Clutch!!! / Tud..../Guf..!!*); knocked unconscious. **Canonized as *Alabasta's greatest warrior*** by Miss All Sunday: *'So much for Alabasta's greatest warrior'* (p. 11). First on-page Zoan-class user since Chopper — falcon-form.
  • **Rainbase — *the city of dreams* — Crocodile's headquarters town** (p. 2, p. 11). Wide-shot of the Rainbase city skyline with palm-trees, ornate domed Arabian-style architecture. The Strawhat-Vivi sub-group has come to Rainbase to confront Crocodile. **First on-page appearance of Rainbase** and its named position as the site of *Rain Dinners* (Crocodile's casino-fortress).
  • **Rain Dinners — Crocodile's casino-headquarters — debuts on-page** (p. 11). Wide-shot of the towering striped pyramid casino-building with a giant green crocodile sculpture mounted atop, palm-tree-lined entrance with arch reading *CASINO*. The chapter's title (*Beginning*) is the **beginning of the Crocodile-confrontation-set-piece** at Rain Dinners. The interior includes an opulent staircase-and-table dining hall, plus a barred underground cage (pp. 12-16).
  • **Operation Utopia — Baroque Works' Alabasta-conquest plan — named on-page** (p. 19 chapter-tail caption): *'Baroque Works' "Operation Utopia" begins.'* / *'It's 7 o'clock.'* / *'A long day is beginning.'* **First on-page utterance of the *Operation Utopia* codename** — the Baroque-Works Alabasta-civil-war kickoff is now formally named. Cashes the Ch. 0111 *utopia-goal* doctrine into a specific named operation. The chapter title *Beginning* refers to **Operation Utopia's beginning** as much as it does Crocodile's on-page debut.
  • **Crocodile's *Trust is the most overrated thing in the world* doctrine** (p. 13). Crocodile (to Luffy, observing Vivi's trust in him): *'She has a great deal of trust in you, Straw Hat. But trust... is the most overrated thing in the world.'* **First on-page Crocodile-articulated cynic-villain doctrine** — pre-loads his entire Alabasta-saga villain-grammar (manipulation of the rebellion via false-trust; Vivi-grew-up-trusting-Alabasta sentiment as exploitable weakness).
  • **Crocodile's hook-hand is wardrobe-canonical from the debut moment** (p. 15, p. 16, p. 17). His **right arm ends in a golden hook**, visible from the first full-body panel. First on-page Crocodile body-modification tell — the hook is the silent forward-canon backstory-prop (loss of the hand is forward-canon, ~Ch. 198+; the hook-as-visual-identifier is locked in here). Cross-cuts the Crocodile-Mihawk-Buggy *prop-as-identity* pattern.
  • Igaram Decoy Sacrifice Composition
  • **Strawhat-Vivi-group captured in a barred underground cage at Rain Dinners** (pp. 11-16). Luffy, Sanji, Usopp, and Igaram are revealed to already be Crocodile's prisoners in a barred floor-cage when Vivi arrives. Sanji and Luffy try to comic-bicker through the bars (*'Hey, who ate all the meat?' / 'I'm Sanji.'*, p. 12); the cage is impenetrable from inside (*'WHAAK!!'* p. 12 — Luffy's bat-strike fails). First on-page Crocodile-tier captive-set-piece — pre-loads the Sea-Stone-cage-with-floor-rising-water trap that anchors the forward-canon Rain Dinners death-trap finale.

Summary

Cover-art (p. 1): Django’s Dance Paradise, Vol. 35: “Hypnosis: ‘Just forget about this friendship.’ One…two…” — Mihawk hypnotizes Django to forget their friendship; grey-uniformed Black Cat Pirate goons line either side with eyes covered.

In-story (pp. 2-11) — at the gates of Rainbase, Vivi and Pell (Alabasta’s falconman zoan-warrior) confront Miss All Sunday. Vivi demands an audience with the boss; Miss All Sunday counter-invites the princess to our place. The exchange opens with a wide-shot of fallen Baroque Works goons in the street (“What a waste. Good henchmen aren’t easy to find.”). When Vivi accuses Miss All Sunday of killing Igaram (cued by an answer the assassin holds up in tribute-tease), Vivi unleashes a Peacock Slasher (SHWNN!!); Miss All Sunday neutralizes it with Tres Fleurs“Turn to Alabastan sand!!!” (p. 5) — burying Vivi in sand. Pell dives in falcon-form (pp. 5-6, THWUP THWUP / WHAP WHAP), only for Robin to greet him by naming her fruit on-page for the first time: “That’s right. I ate the Flower-Flower Fruit. It gives me the power to make any part of my body blossom. Impressive, no?” (p. 7). She blossoms limbs across Pell’s wings, neck, and spine; Seis Fleurs (p. 9) submission-holds him into a spine-snap clutch (CLUTCH!!! / Tud…/Guf..!!, p. 10). “So much for Alabasta’s greatest warrior.” (p. 11). Then, addressed to a sand-buried-but-unhurt Vivi: “The boss is waiting for you, and so are your friends.”

Cut to Rain Dinners (pp. 11-19), Crocodile’s casino-fortress in Rainbase (“…at Rain Dinners… in a cage.”). Luffy, Sanji, Usopp and a still-alive Igaram are already captives in a barred underground cage. Luffy and Sanji bicker comically through the bars (“Hey, who ate all the meat?” / “I’m Sanji.”) until Usopp screams “We’re in big trouble!! What’s wrong with you!?” — the cage doesn’t yield (Luffy’s bat-strike WHAAK!!; Sanji deadpans “It’s no use.”). On the upper dining floor, Crocodile finally appears on-page in full: slicked-black-haired, scar-faced, fur-coated, right hand a golden hook, cigar in hand. Sanji recognizes the silhouette and yells the name: “CROCO-DILE!!!” (p. 14). The villain articulates his thesis: “She has a great deal of trust in you, Straw Hat. But trust… is the most overrated thing in the world.” (pp. 13-14). When Vivi enters the dining hall (pp. 15-18), Crocodile welcomes her by both her names — “Why, Princess Vivi of Alabasta! Welcome! Or should I call you Ms. Wednesday?” — and weaponizes the Suna Suna no Mi: a sand-tendril grabs Vivi’s throat — “As Princess of this kingdom, you must know… about my powers of the Sand-Sand Fruit. How would you like to become a mummy?” Vivi screams Peacock Slasher; Crocodile’s String Slasher sand-counter (p. 16) negates it. Usopp through the bars: “HEY!! TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF VIVI!! I’M GONNA KICK YOUR BUTT!!!” Crocodile to Miss All Sunday: “It’s almost time… for the party to begin. Don’t glare at me like that. Sit down. Isn’t that right, Ms. All Sunday?”“Yes…” (p. 19). Black-frame chapter-tail captions: “It’s 7 o’clock.” / “A long day is beginning.” / Baroque Works’ “Operation Utopia” begins.
