The seed

Why this matters

The composition is the strategic-scale re-key of the Ch. 0110 combat-scale die-for-the-princess loyalty doctrine (Igaram Royal Guard Commander Loyalty Doctrine): Ch. 0110 = Igaram-takes-an-attack-meant-for-Vivi in person; Ch. 0113 = Igaram-takes-an-attack-meant-for-Vivi as deceptive-duplicate. The loyalty-doctrine pivots from physical-shielding to strategic-deception at the same scene-distance from Vivi.

The composition is also the first instance of the scripted-as-death-but-survives technique applied to an Alabasta-faction ally — the chapter is scripted to read as Igaram’s death (silent FWRRR, three-male-fighter reaction-shots in synchrony), but forward-canon: Igaram survives (the reveal lands much later in the Alabasta saga). The technique recurs across the series for high-loyalty allies whose survival is part of the emotional-arc payoff (Pell in the Alabasta finale, Brook’s survival as skeleton, Sabo’s survival across the Marineford-Dressrosa-Reverie chapters).

Forward-pattern:

Ch. 0113 is the seed-template’s first canonical application to an Alabasta-faction ally.
