The Nature-of-Devil-Fruits thread has accumulated four distinct foreshadowing techniques pointing at a single hidden mechanic, calibrating this prediction to confidence 0.7:

• misdirection-via-folk-myth (Ch 2, 13, 22; Gum-Gum Tree) — Oda has spent 20+ chapters establishing that in-world DF cosmology is uncorrected folk. Vegapunk’s Ch 1069 “fruits of hope” reveal demonstrates the folk-myth is intentional setup for a deeper cosmology, not the final word. The deeper cosmology requires a source.
• in-voice-cosmology-drop (Ch 1; Ch 19 “sea-devils”) — Shanks’s “the sea-devils enchanted the fruit” framing is the only in-voice cosmology with a malevolent agent attached. The Ch 1179 katakana Akuma no Mi reveal makes Shanks’s framing literal: there is a Devil and there is a fruit, and the fruit is the source-text.
• chekhov-explicit (Ch 11 — “each fruit is its own rulebook”; Ch 1179 katakana distinction) — the orthographic choice to render Imu’s fruit in katakana, distinct from every other on-panel fruit name, is a deliberate category-difference signal. Ch 1-100 verification: The within-corpus evidence (Ch. 1 Shanks’s “enchanted by sea-devils”, Ch. 2/13/22 folk-myth Gum-Gum Tree, Ch. 11 each fruit is its own rulebook, Ch. 100 first Logia debut via Smoker’s Plume-Plume Fruit) is consistent with the prediction’s folk-myth-conceals-deeper-cosmology framing. The katakana Akuma no Mi (Ch. 1179) and Vegapunk’s fruits-of-hope reveal (Ch. 1069) lie outside ch 1-100. Cannot be resolved with available evidence; status remains open.

Refuter-grep: none of the four named refuters has fired. Devil-Fruit origin is untouched at Ch. 1188/Ch. 1189, and the Ch. 1179 p. 17 caption “POWER: THE DEVIL’S FRUIT” still stands unqualified. One observation worth logging for the next scorer, short of any adjustment:

Re-verified against the corrected record. Chapters 1188 and 1189 have been re-read from the official VIZ release, replacing the TCB fan-scanlation. The inline patch on the 2026-07-25 entry above already absorbed the two corrections that touch this note (the “19 World Weapons… laid to rest there” quote is a TCB fabrication; Omen brought back the WEAPONS, not the Knights, and granted them to “each family”). Neither correction removed The note’s actual support (Ch. 1, Ch. 2, Ch. 19, Ch. 1069, Ch. 1179) sits entirely outside the corrected window and is untouched.

Refuter-grep across the full window (1188–1192), unescaped-alternation: akuma no mi, devil fruit, fruits of hope, Vegapunk, Zoan, Logia, Paramecia, Lunarian, moon, prototype → zero hits. Devil-Fruit origin is not touched anywhere in these five chapters.
