“Denjiro” · alive · orphan/con-artist of the Flower Capital; a future Kozuki Red Scabbard

Profile

Denjiro — first shown on-page Ch. 960 in the Kozuki Oden flashback as the “orphan of the capital,” a sharp-tongued con-artist who runs a pot-swapping bait-and-switch scam to bilk silver off a general store (p. 11). In this era he and Kin’emon are capital street-rats, pre-retainers.

Recorded only what is knowable @0960 — do NOT merge with Characters/Kyoshiro, do NOT cross-reference Kyoshiro, keep the two entities strictly distinct .

Arc-by-arc updates

Wano — guards the celebration (Ch. 1054)

  • In the Flower Capital, resolves with Nekomamushi to keep Green Bull’s (Ryokugyu) arrival from the recovering Luffy and crew: “We mustn’t let Sir Luffy and his companions hear about this!” (p. 3).

Wano Country — return to the capital (Ch. 1050)

  • Arrives in the Flower Capital with Hiyori, his hair reverted from the “Kyoshiro” style (“what happened to his stylin’ hair?”), announcing they have brought “the new shogun of Wano” and that “it’ll be a long, long story” (p. 17).

Wano Country — Onigashima raid (Ch. 1009)

  • As Kyoshiro, named by Orochi as one of his betrayers (“You got me too, Kyoshiro!!”, p. 4); joins the strike that cuts the serpent Orochi down (“Your judgment will be served to you in hell!!!”, p. 6).

Wano Country — Onigashima Raid (Ch. 992)

  • With Kin’emon, charges Kaido using Oden Two-Sword Style and lands “Paradise Totsuka” — Oden’s signature — on the dragon (pp. 17–19).

Wano Country — Onigashima raid (Ch. 990)

  • Recap (p. 2): Orochi realises “Kyoshiro” was one of Oden’s vassals (Denjiro) in disguise — “I was tricked by a friend.” Denjiro is among the Scabbards striking Kaido on the roof.

Wano Country — Onigashima Raid (Ch. 986)

Wano Country — Onigashima (Ch. 982)

  • Still wearing the Kyoshiro identity, walks his Southern force into Onigashima; greeted as Kyoshiro by the Beasts, he slips past and fells the Tobi Roppo Sasaki (“Do you know much about Wano’s history…?”), then splits the force in two to reach the dome (pp. 12-13).

Wano Country — the missing scabbard returns (Ch. 975)

  • FIRST PRESENT-DAY appearance. Arrives at the sea battle aboard the Kyoshiro Family ship as “Boss Kyoshiro,” feigns siding with the Beasts Pirates, then disables their cannons rather than sink the alliance — “But WE’RE not your enemies!! …No need to sink you” (pp. 10-11).
  • Reveals he is Denjiro. The tell is the 40-years-ago Mountain God incident — caused by Kin’emon’s youthful greed, wrongly blamed on Oden — which “only one man could have known”; his disguise slips and Kin’emon cries “DENJIRO?! Is that you…!!” (pp. 12-13).
  • Explains he stayed Orochi’s trusted yakuza to the very end and even “ensured that Orochi had me killed,” so that had he revealed himself the hidden traitor in the scabbards’ midst would have passed it on (p. 13).
  • Liberated 1,000 samurai from the Rasetsu prisoners’ quarters and brings 1,200 fighters (the 200-man Kyoshiro Family + the freed thousand), raising the raid army to 5,400 (pp. 13, 17).
  • Decodes Yasuie’s dying Habu-viper riddle and credits Kin’emon’s deliberate “Tokage Port” misread as the decoy that beat Orochi’s spy (pp. 14-16).

Wano Country — Oden flashback: the Kozuki fall (Ch. 973) — Kyoshiro origin REVEALED

  • Covers the retainers’ retreat alongside Ashura Doji against an overwhelming pursuit as the Kozuki fall (p. 6).
  • Origin reveal (p. 17): Denjiro IS Kyoshiro. His face “disfigured by the demon of anger,” he did NOT time-leap — he stayed in the past, built the Kyoshiro Family in the Flower Capital as the yakuza boss “Napping Kyoshiro” after Boss Hyogoro’s fall, and offered his services to Orochi (“Money!! Women!! Soldiers!!”) — a 20-year-long con pointed at the coming Kozuki counterattack.
  • Takes in the starving orphan Hiyori, renames her the oiran Oiran (top courtesan of Wano), and shelters her “in Kawamatsu’s stead,” binding her to keep his true identity secret even from their own allies.
  • Referenced among Oden’s retainers: described as “wandering all over Wano,” borrowing and repaying money to keep Kuri afloat during Oden’s absence at sea (p. 10). Named-not-shown this chapter.

Oden flashback — origin alongside Kin’emon (Ch. 961)

  • Young Denjiro is Kin’emon’s friend, who tries to stop Kin’emon’s reckless attack on the Mountain God (“You gotta stop, Kin!!”) (pp. 8–9).
  • Equally awed by Oden (“No, I’m infatuated more!! I’ll be his follower!!”); resolves with Kin’emon to follow Oden (p. 16). Origin of his Scabbard loyalty.

Wano — Oden flashback (youth) (Ch. 960)

  • First on-page appearance (Oden-era flashback to his youth). Captioned “Orphan of the capital — Denjiro” (p. 11): a sharp-tongued swindler who works a pot-swapping bait-and-switch con to bilk silver off a general store.
  • A capital street-rat alongside the thief Kin’emon — pre-retainers, long before Oden assembles his sworn band.

Wano Country — Flower Capital (Ch. 1051)

  • Present in the capital under his “Boss Kyoshiro” persona as the crowd asks “Boss Kyoshiro, what does this mean?” (p. 2), part of the assembled Scabbards revealed alive to the public.

Notes

  • PIN basename Denjiro to prevent an alias-fork; Characters/Kyoshiro is the disguise/persona note — the Kyoshiro=Denjiro identity is LIFTED on-page @0973 . For 0960–0972 keep guarded-distinct.
