Why this matters
Adds the Sphinx to the Alabasta arc’s Egyptian-mythological bestiary. The pattern (Egyptian-coded characters paired with Egyptian-mythological creatures) extends to the Officer-Agent tier: Mr. 4’s mount is the most iconic Egyptian-guardian creature in the world’s mythological grammar. Defer name-confirmation to next-chapter reader.
Payoff (Ch. 181)
Mr. 4’s Ch. 172 Sphinx-mount silhouette-debut cashes into the on-page Sphinx-in-active-pursuit during the chase (Ch. 181 p. 11). Mr. 4 charges south on the Sphinx (TARRUMP) in pursuit of the south-bound Vivi-decoys. The Sphinx is operationally a Mr. 4 combat-mount, not a silhouette-only set-dressing prop. First on-page Sphinx-in-active-combat-deployment. The mythological-creature-mount is canonized as Mr. 4’s standard combat-vehicle for the Alubarna chase. (Race/origin of the Sphinx is still unspecified — see Sphinx.)
