Chapter 1000: Straw Hat Luffy

Summary

On the fifth floor of the Skull Dome, Luffy thanks Inuarashi’s Three Musketeers — Shishilian (“Lion Viper”) among them — for protecting Raizo, and races for the stairs to the roof. Elsewhere Yamato presses Lord Oden’s recovered voyage journal into Momonosuke’s hands and recounts a years-ago meeting with Portgas D. Ace in Wano: Ace befriended Yamato, spoke of his little brother Luffy who declared he would become King of the Pirates and forbade anyone to laugh, and tore off a piece of his Vivre Card so they could meet again. Ace’s card later vanished, and Yamato learned from the newspaper that Ace had died — and that Ace was Roger’s son. Oden’s journal carries a prophecy: in roughly twenty years the New World will be overrun by powerful new-generation pirates who will strike down Kaido. On the rooftop, the five supernovas — Luffy, Zoro, Kid, Killer, Law — arrive to face Kaido and Big Mom. Luffy vows to the dying Kin’emon that he will carry Wano on his back, has Law send the wounded down below, then opens with Gear Third’s Gomu Gomu no Red Roc, smashing Kaido and declaring: “I am Monkey D. Luffy… the man who will surpass you… to be King of the Pirates!!!”
