• chekhov-explicit — Yamato states the intent aloud and repeatedly: “I’m going out to sea with Luffy!!!” and frames inheriting Oden’s will as buying time “until Luffy returns” (Ch. 1016 pp. 14–15). The “I’ve been waiting for you a very long time” first-contact line (Ch. 983) is the same register.
• prop-tell / inheritance-token — Ace hands Yamato a piece of his Vivre Card (Ch. 1000) — the exact bond-token grammar by which One Piece marks a sworn tie that later draws the holder into the protagonist’s orbit. What happened: The load-bearing forward claim — Yamato departs Wano after Kaido’s fall and joins the Straw Hat voyage as a crewmate — is directly contradicted at the exact juncture it named. In Ch. 1057 (“The End”, pp.3, 10), as the Straw Hats prepare to leave Wano, Yamato has already declined Luffy’s invitation to sail: “Oden started his travels of the world by walking about the country, didn’t he…? I’ll follow the same path, and eventually it will take me out to sea!” Yamato chooses to walk Wano on foot first, vows “I will surpass Kozuki Oden!! Someday… in the future…”, and the Thousand Sunny sails without her. The post-Kaido departure happens and Yamato is not aboard.

What we got right / wrong: The motive half was settled canon before filing and remains correct (Ace’s Vivre Card, Oden’s journal prophecy, Yamato’s “I’m going out to sea with Luffy!!!” @1016). What missed is the escalation the note itself flagged as the genuine downside: the departure-and-membership. The refuters “Sails, but not as a Straw Hat,” “Circumstance overrides intent,” and the Vivi-pattern “would-be member who declines at the threshold” all fired — Yamato is a textbook decline-at-the-threshold. Note the door is left ajar (“eventually it will take me out to sea”), but the specific, testable claim (joins the crew at the post-Kaido departure) is falsified on-page, so this settles as refuted, not open.

Confidence calibration check: We filed at 0.55; in retrospect this was well-calibrated — the deliberately under-band 0.55 (below the 4-technique ≈0.7 default) was explicitly attributed to seed-saturation around crew membership being a documented over-prediction failure mode, and the calibration note pre-registered that “a miss here is informative about whether dense ‘join-the-crew’ seeding systematically over-predicts membership.” It does. The low confidence absorbed the miss exactly as intended; this is a calibration win even though the directional bet lost.

• Ch. 983 — Yamato’s first-contact line, “I’ve been waiting for you a very long time,” sets the register of the intent to join Luffy.
• Ch. 999 — Ace came to Wano years ago, befriended the chained child Yamato, and told him of Luffy and Luffy’s King-of-the-Pirates vow.
• Ch. 1000 — Ace hands Yamato a piece of his Vivre Card, and Yamato reads Oden’s journal as prophecy that “Luffy is the man Oden was waiting for.”
• Ch. 1016 — Yamato declares “I’m going out to sea with Luffy!!!”, framing inheriting Oden’s will as buying time until Luffy returns.

What would refute this

• Wano-guardian duty wins. Yamato stays in Wano as its protector / the “new Oden” who guards the reopened country and the young shogun Momonosuke, and never boards the Sunny — the most likely failure mode.

The four converging techniques are real, but they all push the same “wants to join the crew” reading, and seed-saturation around crew membership is a documented over-prediction failure mode — the would-be-member who declines at the last beat is a recurring Oda move, and the Wano-guardian counter-pull here is unusually strong (Yamato as Oden’s successor has an in-country mandate). Deliberately seated in the under-exercised 0.5–0.7 band: the motive is settled canon (near-1.0), but the departure-and-membership escalation carries genuine downside the seed-density masks. Not a universal-quantifier or canon-inversion claim. A miss here is informative about whether dense “join-the-crew” seeding systematically over-predicts membership.
