A coastal East Blue village near Arlong Park. Surrounded by tangerine groves; the outskirts host Nojiko’s house — the former Nami household, where Bell-mère raised Nami and Nojiko (Bell-mère’s identity pending Arlong-arc flashback).

The village sits inside Arlong’s tribute-tax / extortion region: “If you laid one finger on a fishman, they’d kill you.” (Nojiko, Ch. 70 page 15).

Etymology

Cocoyasi (ココヤシ) is the Japanese rendering of coconut palm (kokoyashi = coconut tree). The VIZ localization uses the truncated Coco Village through the Ch. 70 dialogue/captions. The botanical-place-name register fits the East Blue tropical-coastal aesthetic.

Arlong Park (arc-resolution + Straw Hat departure) (Ch. 95) — Post-victory village-wide celebration; Bell-mère’s cliffside grave revisited; Straw Hat departure from the dock; village retains 100M

• Two-day post-victory celebration (pages 2-3, 10). Villagers and Straw Hats dance, eat, and sing together on the beach and in the village streets. Caption-tower: “The whole island celebrated that night… and continued on through the following night. Everyone was living for the moment. Everyone lived to laugh.”
• Bell-mère’s cliffside grave (pages 4-5, 17). A wooden cross-grave with the straw hat hanging on the cross-arm (from Ch. 78 burial). The grave overlooks Coco Village and the sea. Genzo’s solo grave-vigil delivers the chapter’s emotional-resolution doctrine. At chapter close, Genzo mounts his pinwheel on the cross-grave.
• The village retains the 100,000,000 berries Nami spent eight years assembling. The buyback-money becomes the village’s communal-fund — a future-arc economic transformation foundation.

Arlong Park (arc-climax — village liberation) (Ch. 94)

• Village-wide celebration tableau (page 7): HOORAY!!! + caption ‘ARLONG PARK HAS FALLEN!!!!’. The Ch. 72 eight-year endurance-vow resolves.
• Village-square multi-day celebration (page 15): wide square panel with villagers eating, fish grilling, party-tents. ‘IT’S CRAZY THAT HE CAN EVEN MOVE… YEAH, BUT IT’D TAKE A NORMAL PERSON TWO YEARS TO RECOVER…’ Two days have passed since the Park’s fall, by the dialogue’s implication.
• Bell-mère’s grave first on-page rendering (page 14): wooden cross at the top of a small coastal hillside, ringed by tangerine trees, palm trees along the surf — SPLOOSH SFX. Canonical-prop-location of the arc.
• Genzo’s who’d have imagined we’d be saved by pirates (page 13): the village’s pirate-acceptance register installs.

Arlong Park (chapter 83 — Usopp flees back into the village; villagers cheer Brother Usopp)

• Ch. 83: Usopp flees back into the village after firing his Fire Star (pages 13-14). Nojiko stays at the edge of the village watching the pier-fight. Villagers cheer Usopp on as Brother Usopp (page 12). The village is operationally-aligned with the Straw Hats at this chapter — the village-recognition of Usopp as ally is the unified-front register install.

Arlong Park (chapter 81 — village bombed + vow-broken + Nami released)

• Village bombed by Nezumi’s Marines or Arlong-Pirates (page 6, BOOM!!! DOOM!!! DOOM!!!). Bell-mère’s house and surrounding buildings visible burning. The chapter is the village’s most-explicit warzone-state beat.
• Endurance vow broken by Genzo and the villagers (pages 5-7). The Ch. 72 fight-by-enduring vow is officially abandoned.
• Village releases Nami from her contract-burden (page 9): Genzo + Nojiko + villagers formally release her from her eight-year obligation.
• Luffy on-page in Cocoyasi street (pages 12-15). Hat-handoff to Nami occurs here.

Arlong Park (flashback) (Ch. 78) — village interior + tribute regime canonized

• First on-page rendering of the village interior (Ch. 78): village square (page 2 tribute scene), Bell-mère’s outlying tangerine-grove house with kitchen and three-place dinner table (pages 5-7, 11-17).

Arlong Park (Ch. 73) — Empty streets at midday

• Sanji disembarks here (page 14), walks empty streets through palm-tree-lined homes. “That saw-nose is around here somewhere.” — Arlong is in the village off-page (Hatchan: “Arlong went to Coco Village to capture him!!”).

Arlong Park (Ch. 72) — Arlong’s regime in operation; eight-year endurance vow named

• The village is under an explicit eight-year occupation (page 5, Genzo: “the last eight years”). A prior armed-resistance was fought and lost (“we already fought and died to resist them — in vain!!”); the survivors swore a vow to fight by enduring — by living.
• Arlong’s legal regime as practiced in Cocoyasi: possession of weapons is sedition (page 3); punishment for possession is public execution plus optional village-destruction-as-deterrent (pages 5-7). Tribute schedule: paid without fail for eight years (page 4).
• Genzo (Genzo) is established as the village elder / surrogate-father figure — endures Arlong’s beating on-page to keep the vow.
• Nami arrives at the village in broad daylight (pages 17-18) — her presence is normalized; villagers murmur her name but no one shrinks from her. The witch-of-the-village slur (Ch. 70, Chabo/Nojiko) is here counter-staged with Nami-the-village-daughter.
