In-universe explorer named on-page in Ch. 115 via a parchment-scroll book-quote that Usopp reads from his exploration-library. Arnot is the first named in-universe Grand-Line explorer in the series — his travel-writing about Little Garden is preserved in published exploration-books that have circulated wide enough for Usopp to have read.

- Named via parchment-scroll book-quote (p.19): “Therefore, let us call it Little Garden, Land of Giants. — LOUIS ARNOT, EXPLORER. To its inhabitants, the island truly is a little garden.” The quote is shown as an unfurled handwritten manuscript page within Usopp’s exploration-book.
- First named in-universe Grand-Line explorer in the series — pre-loads the named-Grand-Line-explorer grammar that recurs across later arcs (Mont Blanc Noland in Skypiea, the various unnamed Sea Kings cartographers).
- Survived Little Garden long enough to name it — implies either: (a) he encountered the giants in a non-hostile context, or (b) he avoided them entirely, or (c) he died on the island but his manuscript survived. The chapter does not specify.

- Name etymology: Louis Arnot reads as a French-coded surname (cf. Arnaud / Arnauld). Forward-canon: no further mentions in the series — Arnot is a one-line authorial-source name that exists primarily to canonize the Land of Giants etymology. May or may not connect to any later named-explorer .
- In-universe authorial sources are rare in One Piece — Oda usually delivers world-building through dialogue or narrator-voice, not via cited-book-quotes. The Arnot quote is one of the earliest cited-author book-quotes in the series, making it a structurally notable canonization-device.
