The seed
First explicit articulation of Usopp’s life-aspiration. Three on-page utterances within the same chapter, in escalating-conviction register:
- Brave warrior of the sea — general life-goal framing (p.9)
- I want to be just like you guys — direct identification with Dorry/Brogy as archetype (p.14)
- I want to be like the warriors of ELBAPH — locked-in pilgrimage-destination naming (p.15)
Directly anchored to Elbaf as pilgrimage-destination in the same chapter Elbaf is first established as a Strawhat-aspirational-target (Elbaf First Named On Page — Ch. 116 first-utterance; Ch. 117 Strawhat-side internalization).
Why this matters
First explicit Strawhat-with-named-homeland-pilgrimage in the series:
- Zoro: world’s greatest swordsman — lacks a geographical anchor (no homeland-pilgrimage; the goal is an abstract title-claim).
- Sanji: All Blue — geographical destination, but is a meta-ocean / fishing-myth, not a homeland or culture-of-origin.
- Usopp: brave warrior of Elbaf — first Strawhat whose life-aspiration is a named foreign-culture-homeland they explicitly want to immigrate into as a cultural-affiliate.
Forward-pattern: Usopp’s character-arc final-destination is Elbaf — ~1000 chapters before he actually reaches it in the Final-Saga Elbaf arc. The aspiration is inspired by Dorry and Broggy directly — they become the I want to be like them archetype for Usopp’s entire forward arc. Every later Usopp-as-warrior beat (Sogeking, Marineford 6-paths formation, Wano arc, Egghead escape) keys back to this chapter’s brave warrior of the sea installation.
Honor-as-treasure internalization (p.15) — Usopp’s ‘So honor is a TREASURE!!’ registers the Dorry honor will be the eternal treasure of our homeland doctrine as a personal-value internalization. The Strawhat-internalizes-Elbaf-doctrine beat pre-loads every later Usopp-as-honor-warrior register.
Foil composition: Nami’s deadpan ‘I don’t care about that stupid warrior stuff! Come on! I’m getting away!’ (p.9) installs the Nami-skeptic-Usopp-idealist dynamic that recurs throughout the series. The aspiration is immediately contested by the crew’s pragmatist — keeping the doctrine narratively-active rather than uniformly-celebrated.
Sister-pattern for the parent prediction: This evidence does not bear directly on the Ch. 1 Romance Dawn splash pre-install core claim of Every Remaining Straw Hat Was Pre-Installed In Ch 1 Romance Dawn Splash, but installs a sister-pattern worth tracking — Strawhat-pilgrimage-destinations-pre-installed (Usopp → Elbaf, Sanji → All Blue, Zoro → World’s Greatest Swordsman, etc.). The sister-pattern may warrant its own sub-prediction.
