Cut down by Kaido on the Live Floor at Ch. 985 (the wound’s finality deliberately withheld), Orochi is shown unmistakably alive at Ch. 1008 — recognized mid-word by a Beasts pirate, in serpent form, setting the castle ablaze and snarling that Kaido “betrayed” him. The chapter does NOT explain the survival mechanism; his Mythical-Zoan serpent (the eight-headed Yamata-no-Orochi) is the obvious suspect, but that is inference, not on-page fact in this window. Open until canon resolves it.

Ch. 985Kaido cuts Orochi down on the Onigashima stage, but the wound’s finality is deliberately withheld — no body, no on-page confirmation of death.
Ch. 1008 Orochi is shown unmistakably alive in serpent form, raging at Kaido and threatening to burn down Onigashima; he persists lucid in both serpent and human form through Ch. 1030 and Ch. 1032.
