This is a deliberate mid-band file . Three distinct techniques converge across the linked Foreshadowing notes:

• chekhov-explicit — The captivity mechanism is stated outright, not merely implied: the candy is a “drugged” addictive stimulant (Caesar @0666 — “I give them drugged candies every day… with a fizzy stimulant gas effect”; runaways must return because they “won’t be able to get their precious CANDY anymore”), and Chopper finds the NHC10 stimulant in the children’s bodies (@0665). An explicitly-named addiction-cage is Oda’s standard tell that the breaking of it becomes the set-piece. • prop-tell — The candy itself is the load-bearing prop: withdrawal from it produces violent rages on-page (Synd flattens Luffy until Usopp’s Sleep Star subdues him, @0665). The gigantification (Robin: “their abnormal pituitary gland activity isn’t a natural occurrence”, @0665) is real but functions as the mystery’s answer (what Caesar is building), not as the rescue’s obstacle — hence the prediction splits the two: bodies are the reveal, the candy is the crisis.

Resolution

2026-06-17 — Status: confirmed via Ch. 697 (with Ch. 688, Ch. 696, Ch. 698, Ch. 699).

What happened: Every load-bearing clause landed on-page. The captive children are cured — Law surgically removes the NHC10 drugs from their bodies “cutting their bodies to pieces” (Ch. 696) — and are then ferried home by G-5, with Tashigi taking personal charge (“PLEASE LEAVE THE CHILDREN WITH ME!!!”) and the Marines promising to ask Vegapunk for an addiction cure (Ch. 696–Ch. 697). The addiction, not the gigantification, was the load-bearing obstacle: Mocha eats the entire candy stash to keep it from the raging others, overdoses, coughs blood and collapses comatose (Ch. 688/Ch. 696) — the predicted “at least one child’s life put in mortal danger” beat. The gigantification was confirmed as the secondary research reveal (a centuries-old war-research program, Ch. 688), not the lethal element. Caesar is taken alive — captured, his gas-antidote wrung out of him, held as a hostage whose recovery Doflamingo surrenders his Warlord status and a ten-year throne to secure (Ch. 697–Ch. 699).

What we got right / wrong: Right: the split between “bodies are the reveal, the candy is the crisis”; the forced-withdrawal crisis nearly killing a child (Mocha, the pre-flagged linchpin); Caesar deposed-not-killed. Slightly off on mechanism — the final cure was Law’s Ope-Ope surgical drug-extraction rather than a slow forced detox, so the mortal-danger beat (Mocha’s overdose) preceded the cure rather than occurring during it. The substance of the wager held.

Confidence calibration check: We filed at 0.6; in retrospect this was slightly under-confident because three explicitly-installed seeds (chekhov-explicit addiction, prop-tell candy, negative-space frozen-corpse death-stakes) all converged on the predicted outcome, and even the riskiest forward inference (“nearly costs a child’s life”) landed exactly. The mid-band 0.6 was a deliberate exercise of the unmeasured pricing band; the convergence justified ~0.75.

What would refute this

• The children are not freed/returned within the arc. If they die en masse, are permanently kept, or are written out without a homecoming beat, the core “freed and sent home” clause fails.
• The addiction is cured trivially. If withdrawal is resolved off-page or with no mortal-danger beat (e.g. Chopper simply synthesises an antidote with no crisis), the “load-bearing obstacle / nearly costs a child’s life” clause is wrong — the rescue was clean after all.
• The gigantification, not the candy, is the lethal element. If a child nearly dies from the giant-growth process itself (organ failure from size) rather than from candy withdrawal, the prediction mis-assigned the obstacle.
