- Name meaning
- *Fūsha-mura* (フーシャ村) — *fūsha* (風車) literally means **windmill** in Japanese (風 *kaze/fū*, wind + 車 *sha/kuruma*, wheel). The village is named for the giant windmill that stands at its center — the iconic Romance-Dawn establishing-shot landmark. The official English alias 'Windmill Village' is a direct translation; *Foosha* is the romanization of the Japanese *fūsha*. The windmill register also evokes Don-Quixote-tilting-at-windmills (the romantic pirate-adventurer pursuing impossible dreams) — a thematic fit for Luffy's birthplace.
