The Ch. 0057 evidence note in Straw Hat Recruitment Pattern articulates this rule in its strongest form: “every confirmed crewmember’s named dream was first laughed at by adults in their backstory chapter. The pattern is a rule, not a coincidence.” The Drum-arc Chopper backstory (Ch. 0141-0145) extends the pattern with a fourth confirmed instance and a structural variant: Hiriluk’s no-incurable-disease doctrine and cherry-blossoms-will-bloom dream are both mocked by the Drum villagers (Ch. 0143 page 4: Kureha herself doubles as the cherry-blossoms-will-never-bloom skeptic before becoming the mentor-figure who carries the dream). The villager-mockery / mentor-restraint inversion is doubly-loaded in the Drum arc — Hiriluk is both the mocked-dreamer-as-elder and the mentor-figure to Chopper. The four-instance confirmation in ch 1-150:

1. Luffy / Shanks (Ch. 1) — Shanks’s pirates laugh at I’ll be a pirate; Shanks himself does not (he places the hat).

What we got right / wrong: Right — the mentor-restraint half (the more predictive half of the rule, since it pre-codes who the mentor is) landed exactly: neither Clover nor Saul mocks the dream; both carry it.
