The Straw Hat Recruitment Pattern is the densest grammar-web in the vault (132 evidence chapters, the recruitment-grammar technique-family across its Foreshadowing). Six independent Jinbei beats in this single window all fire the same recruitment channels:

• recruitment-grammar / introduced-by-conviction-not-combat. Ch. 528 Jinbei’s first on-page beat installs him via moral conviction, not a fight — the pattern’s tell for a future peer-member (cf. the thread frontmatter’s own @0528 note).
• antagonist-soft-ally-tell (honorable-Warlord-aids-Luffy). Ch. 546 Jinbei, a Warlord, orchestrates the sea-escape and risks the Calm Belt for Luffy’s group; Luffy publicly stakes trust in him — “He’s Ace’s friend. I trust him.” The standing-enemy-faction figure re-coded as trusted ally, the pattern’s pre-join step.
• willing-to-die-for-charge (self-sacrifice signature). Ch. 578 Jinbei takes Akainu’s magma fist clean through his own torso to shield the unconscious Luffy — the protect-the-captain self-sacrifice that every inner-circle crewmate performs. Six converging beats in one window on a roster-recruitment claim ≈ a high membership probability, priced at 0.65, not higher, deliberately: (i) the specific helmsman role-slot is not hinted on-page yet — the pattern flags the formal join as far-forward , so at frontier 587 only the install, not the payoff, is on the page. This is a deliberate exercise of the under-tested 0.5–0.7 band: strong pattern, thin character-specific payoff yet, soft role clause.

2026-06-22 — Status: partially-confirmed via Ch. 863 (membership-intent now textual ≤0897; formal captain-acceptance + helmsman role forward of the window).

What happened: At Whole Cake Island the membership trajectory went from pattern-inference to explicit on-page intent: Jinbei renounces Big Mom and commits to rebellion to protect the Vinsmokes and aid the Straw Hats (Ch. 860 “I will be fomenting rebellion and betraying Big Mom!!”, pledging he would one day join the Straw Hats and die for Luffy), then at the wedding formally quits the Big Mom Pirates — returns his ritual sake cup and declares he wishes to join the Straw Hat crew (Ch. 863 pp.16-18: “As of this moment, I quit the Big Mom Pirates!!!”), framing himself as “a man who would be crewmate of the future King of the Pirates.” He burns his bridge with his Emperor crew specifically to bind himself to Luffy.

What we got right / wrong: The conviction-recruited reading (clause a) is now textually validated — Jinbei joins by oath/conviction, not defeat, and has severed his old allegiance. But the two clauses the claim actually rests on are not yet settled on-page ≤0897: (b) the helmsman/sea-master role-slot is still unhinted, and (c) the formal captain-side acceptance (“you’re one of us”) and Jinbei sailing as a crewmate land in chapters past the window — at 0897 he has declared the wish and quit Big Mom, but Luffy has not yet formally inducted him. Ch. 977 then shows him steering the Thousand Sunny into Wano as the crew’s master helmsman, and at Ch. 979 he calls the Onigashima raid “my first battle on the crew.” Membership by conviction, ally-before-member, captain-side acceptance at a later arc, and the empty functional slot filled — every clause landed as written.

What we got right / wrong: Everything in the claim, including the “soft” helmsman clause, which the filing deliberately under-weighted — the caption pays it off verbatim.
