Sanji Secret Dream To Become The Invisible Man

The seed
The chapter title is “Sanji’s Dream .” Sanji reveals that as a child the in-world Encyclopedia of Devil Fruits taught him there is only ever one of each fruit, and the entry that awed him most was the invisibility fruit — “there was a time I wanted to become an invisible man!!!” His perverse motive (women’s baths / changing rooms) is played for comedy but is canonized as a genuine lifelong dream — which is why he holds a real grudge against Absalom for “eating his dream” by eating the Clear-Clear Fruit .
The holder of the very fruit Sanji covets — Absalom of the Clear-Clear Fruit (“I’m an invisible man,” p. 13) — is finished off this chapter, with his earlier fight against Sanji explicitly credited for leaving him too weak to withstand Nami ’s follow-up (p. 15). The invisible man Sanji envies is taken off the board.
Cornered by Page One in the Flower Capital , Sanji resolves to fight unseen: “They won’t identify me, and I won’t get hurt!!” / “…as long as they don’t find out who I am, right?” — explicitly tying his coming fight to staying unidentifiable, a beat that rhymes with his childhood invisible-man dream.
Ch. 1034 — p. 11 — invisibility from the body alone
Sanji now turns invisible without the Stealth Black suit — Queen : “he doesn’t have his suit on!! He’s just invisible from high-speed movement!!” The dream realized via Germa science Ch. 931 now belongs to Sanji’s own (modified) body. Deepens the running motif; status stays confirmed. A character constant: Sanji’s comedic “second dream” (after the All Blue) is the invisibility gag, which recurs across the series.
The payoff

Ch. 931 — the invisibility dream realized (with a twist)
Sanji’s childhood dream literally comes true: the Germa “Stealth Black” Raid Suit turns him invisible by projecting the background over his body. The chekhov-explicit irony is that it arrives through the Germa science he hates , not the Clear-Clear Fruit he coveted — “the dream I thought was dead… has come true with the power I hated!! Germa’s science!!” (pp. 7-8). Status flipped pending -> confirmed; payoff_chapter 0931 (payoff <= window.hi 0937). The comedic invisibility gag still recurs as a motif, but the literal dream is realized here. (The earlier “leave pending” framing above is superseded by this on-page literal payoff.)
Why this matters
Oda canonizes a comedic running-gag as an explicit, stated character dream at the exact moment it becomes plot-relevant (the grudge that powers the Absalom fight). A “chekhov-explicit” tell — announced in dialogue rather than inferred by the reader.
