Vergo Is Jokers Mole Inside The Marines

The seed
Law exposes Vergo : “He’s a pirate, through and through… He’s been Joker’s man from the very start!! He enlisted on Joker’s orders before he made a name for himself.” Fifteen years of Marine service have carried Vergo — secretly Doflamingo ’s agent — to Vice Admiral and base commander of G-5 , able to launder atrocities into “accidents… just like always” (p. 18).
The mole identity gets a body-language tell: with Smoker captured in the lab, Vergo admits “I broke out in a cold sweat when I saw that Smoker was here” (p. 7) — a man on the wanted-criminal side of Caesar ’s operation dreading recognition by a Marine Vice Admiral, underscoring that Vergo’s true allegiance is something the Marines could expose.
Vergo stays load-bearing without appearing: the captured G-5 are pressed — “Why don’t you tell them about base commander Vergo , Tashigi ?” — and Law admits “I wasn’t accounting for Vergo ’s(0676 evidence for the 0675 reader’s near-dup Vergo Fears Being Seen By The Marine Smoker Hidden-Mole Tell, folded here.)
A pleading G-5 Marine: “Vice Ad—! And Vergo will cover it all up… even the children ” — the Marines regard Vergo as their Vice Admiral, yet he is positioned to bury a massacre at Caesar’s lab. Law specifically wants Smoker to “ruin Vergo’s reputation,” treating Vergo as part of the Joker operation he hides from the Navy.
Smoker breaks off the main operation alone, against orders, specifically to confront Vergo (“I ain’t gonna stand by and let him make a mockery of the Navy!!”), and Tashigi warns “his power is the real deal.” A Vice Admiral hunting Vergo head-on escalates the hidden-mole tell from the Ch. 675 “cold sweat at seeing Smoker” beat toward a direct collision.
The mole acts in the open: Vergo beats his own adoring G-5 marines and savages Tashigi , and a flashback shows his years of cover-up — burying the children’s abduction as a “false report” to shield Caesar (“Calling it an abduction at least gives them hope,” pp. 11–12). The disguise-of-honor is dropped on-page.
The mole is shown acting on Joker’s behalf: Vergo arrives at the S.A.D. room carrying “a message from Joker ” (p. 17), and Law exposes him on-page once more — “Vergo the pirate!!! ” (p. 19). A serving Marine Vice Admiral acting as Doflamingo/Joker’s agent reaffirms the World-Government-infiltration seed.
Ch. 764 pp. 14–15 — the origin of Vergo’s Marine cover (flashback)
The Corazon flashback shows how Vergo became a Marine: ~13 years ago, as “the previous Corazon,” he enlists as a Donquixote plant and personally asks Admiral Sengoku to transfer him to G-5 — the genesis of the V.A. Vergo exposed at Punk Hazard (Ch. 672 –Ch. 673 ). The “fried egg on your cheek” gag predates Punk Hazard.
Ch. 766 pp. 8–13 — the ON-PAGE origin of the mole
14 years before Punk Hazard , Vergo joined the Marines as the family’s “top-secret” operative. He is the very Navy scout young Law unwittingly delivers Corazon ’s exposé to, and destroys it to protect “the family… and our future plans,” beating Law and phoning Doflamingo to report the spy.
