Chapter 283: On the Front Line of Rescuing Love

Summary

Sanji wakes Usopp on the ruined Upper Yard battlefield with the cry that they must save Nami, who has been taken aboard the giant ship — the Ark Maxim — now lifting off above the forest. The two wounded crewmates race to the Giant Jack vine and climb aboard the rising ark, vowing to reach the deck and rescue her; Usopp panics, Sanji declares he will become “the demon of the Blue Sea” before letting the “Kami” touch Nami. Aboard, Enel taunts the captive Nami that her only destiny is to stay on his ark, dismissing the “two little rats” who just climbed aboard. On the ground, the Shandians chief orders his people to evacuate to the White Sea as the sky over Skypiea darkens, telling them Enel will do to this country what he did to his own homeland, Bilka. Conis watches the ominous ship from afar; Aisa reunites with a recovering Luffy beside the crushed bird-horse Pierre. As the Maxim flies off, Nami deploys her salvaged golden-ball “blue sea weapon” to try to redirect Enel’s lightning, but Enel mocks the trick as useless once he increases the scale of his attack, leaving Nami with nowhere to run. Luffy vows to chase the ship down — “I know where it’s headed” — and the group heads back toward the vine where Nico Robin was.
