Summary
Atop Upper Yard, Enel charges the Ark Maxim with his lightning and lifts it off the ground; the giant ship rises into the sky over Skypiea, its hull branded 神 (“Kami”). Citizens fleeing Angel Island see the floating ark and despair. Luffy, exhausted, keeps swinging at Enel, declaring that the sky island and Enel will fall together — there are “tons of people who can defeat you” in the Blue Sea below. Enel refuses to fight him directly: “There is no need for me to battle you… I can’t risk battling you and having you injure me again.” Instead he sears Luffy’s fist into a molten-gold sphere (“the gold wall… LUMINOUS… FORGE!”), leaving a solid-gold ball fused to Luffy’s hand, then kicks him off the rising ark. As Luffy plummets, Aisa — the “little voice” Enel had been hearing — rides Pierre down to catch him; Enel answers with El Thor, blasting them out of the sky. The Maxim ships out as Enel taunts a captive Nami about “desire,” asking whether she wants the treasure or the lives of crewmates she will have to leave behind. Below, the half-built section of the ship is found EMPTY — Usopp and Sanji, too injured to move, have vanished.
New reveals
- The Ark Maxim lifts off Upper Yard under Enel’s lightning power and floats over Skypiea — the doomsday ark is now airborne (pp. 4-7, 16).
- Enel will not fight Luffy directly. “There is no need for me to battle you… Rubber Man from the Blue Sea… I can’t risk battling you and having you injure me again” (p. 12) — Enel openly concedes Luffy can hurt him and avoids melee.
- Enel disposes of Luffy with molten gold, not lightning: he “forges” the gold around Luffy’s fist into a solid sphere (“KACHIN …FORGE!”, “SIZZLE”, “Ouch! That’s hot!!”), fusing a gold ball to Luffy’s hand (“My arm is stuck!”) and giving it to him — “This golden sphere is for your valiant effort in battle… You can keep it!” (pp. 9-11).
- Aisa is the “little voice” Enel kept hearing; she and Pierre dive to save the falling Luffy (pp. 13-14). Enel calls their rescue “annoying” / “futile” and fires El Thor at them (pp. 14-15).
- Enel kidnaps Nami as navigator and ships out aboard the Maxim, monologuing about “desire” (pp. 16-19).
- On the ark, the half-built/partial section is EMPTY — the wounded Usopp and Sanji have disappeared (“They weren’t well enough to move. What happened?!”, p. 19).

Open questions raised
- Where did the wounded Usopp and Sanji go from the half-built ark section (p. 19)?
- What is the gold sphere fused to Luffy’s hand for, and can it be removed?
- Did Aisa, Pierre, and the falling Luffy survive the El Thor blast (p. 15)?
- What is Enel’s full plan for the kidnapped Nami beyond navigation?
