- The claim
- Shanks's Figarland tie resolves as blood without standing: the '(Figarland Family)' caption marks his birth house, not Celestial-Dragon caste. He will never be captioned, addressed, or treated as a World Noble, never inducted as a Knight of God, and never granted a Figarland succession or any claim on Mariejois — Shamrock keeps the sole recognized Figarland standing.

The claim
Reasoning
The @1192 re-score of Shanks Has a Figarland Twin split sub-claim SC2 in half and let the second half fall. The blood survives: the “(Family)” slot on a Holy Knight’s caption card names a birth house everywhere else in the order — “St. Gunko — Devoted Blade of God (Manmayer family)” (Ch. 1160 p.7), “Holy Knights of God (Satchel’s family) — St. Maffey” (Ch. 1161 p.5), “Commander, Holy Knights of God (Figarland Family)” for Garling (Ch. 1167 p.7) — and the order hunts the boy at sea as “the son of our commander” (Ch. 1170 p.6). The caste does not survive, and this note forecasts that the story keeps it that way.
Four beats set the trajectory. “Devoted Blade of God” is a rank the Holy Land grants, not a lineage marker: St. Garling confers it on the giant King Harald by Shallows Covenant and introduces Shanks with “we’ll use him as a Devoted Blade of God, like you” (Ch. 1167 pp.6-7, 12). The twins’ paired caption cards at p.13 are asymmetric — Shamrock reads “Holy Knight of God,” Shanks reads “Devoted Blade of God,” a tier below inside the same house, with a Depths Covenant named as what would put him “on the level of Shamrock.” Garling never acknowledges the children at all, refusing them on sight and having “already special-ordered a wife who is befitting of me” (Ch. 1159 p.4), while the order treats the child’s very existence as a scandal — “Garling has a kid…? Who’d have thunk it?” (Ch. 1161 p.6). And the knighthood is a swappable post rather than an entitlement: with Shanks missing, Harald is offered the identical rank “as his backup” (Ch. 1168 p.8), with Gaban explaining that it is the deeper covenant, not the shallowest one Shanks signed, that makes a Knight of God (Ch. 1169 pp.8-9). Only Shamrock is ever captioned “(World Noble)” (Ch. 1137 p.16).
The disposition points the same way. Shanks used whatever access he had to unlock the Marijoa armory for Fisher Tiger’s uprising, and the caption panel closes in his own mouth with “I hated everything down there!!!” (Ch. 1167 pp.10-13). Confidence 0.75 tracks SC2’s composite of 0.82 at the @1192 panel, held slightly below it because the sub-claim’s surviving half is the blood, and because the story could still stage a legitimation scene it has so far pointedly refused.
Resolution
Once new info arrives, update
status,resolved_date,resolved_chapterand write a one-paragraph postmortem here describing what happened and what reasoning was right or wrong.
Supporting evidence
- Ch. 1137 p.16 — only Shamrock carries the “(World Noble)” caption: “Commander of the Holy Knights (World Noble) — Figarland Shamrock, son of St. Garling”
- Ch. 1159 p.4 — Garling refuses the twins and their mother on sight; no legitimation anywhere in the corpus
- Ch. 1160 pp.6-7 / Ch. 1161 p.5 — “Devoted Blade of God” and the “(Family)” slot used across other houses, marking rank plus birth house
- Ch. 1161 p.6 — the order is astonished the child exists (“Who’d have thunk it?”); a concealed bastard, not an heir
- Ch. 1167 pp.6-7, 12-13 — the rank is granted to the giant King Harald; the twins’ cards are rank-asymmetric; Shanks closes the scene with “I hated everything down there!!!”
- Ch. 1168 p.8 — Harald offered the knighthood “as his backup” once Shanks goes missing
- Ch. 1169 pp.8-9 — Shanks holds only the Shallows Covenant; the deeper covenant is what makes a Holy Knight
What would refute this
- A caption card, roster panel, or newspaper reading “(World Noble)” or “Celestial Dragon” beside Shanks — the label Ch. 1137 p.16 gives Shamrock and has never given Shanks
- Shanks shown in a Celestial Dragon’s bubble helmet, or being addressed with the “St.” honorific by the present-day World Government, Five Elders, or Imu in a register of deference rather than as a target
- Figarland Garling acknowledging Shanks as his son or heir on-page, or any Figarland succession naming him
- Shanks inducted as a full Knight of God — signing the Depths Covenant, or captioned “Holy Knight of God (Figarland Family)”
- Shanks asserting or exercising a claim on Mariejois / the Holy Land — an inheritance, a seat, a Pangaea Castle entitlement, or a Empty Throne claim of right
- A retro-caption or SBS answer stating the “(Figarland Family)” slot denotes caste rather than house, reversing the Ch. 1160 / Ch. 1161 parallels
