Chapter 1016: It's Me, Otama!!

Summary

In the Flower Capital, the Fire Festival blazes on; a hooded woman (likely Kozuki Hiyori) reassures little Otoko (Toko) that her late father (Yasuie/Tonoyasu) is watching over her and the fate of the country from heaven. On Onigashima, the Beasts tally the collapsing battle balance (now ~20,000 vs 7,000) as pleasure-girls and waiters rebel against Queen and thousands of soldiers defect. On the performance floor, Otama, Usopp and Nami discover that Zeus — eaten by Hera last chapter — survived: his soul slipped out of his dying body and into Nami’s Sorcery Climate Baton, reborn as a “weather egg / storm cloud” weapon homie (“I am the mighty Zeus, right arm of Nami!!”). With Zeus, Nami unleashes a lightning blast that — after Usopp’s plants clear Otama — fells Ulti, while a large tamed beast finishes her off; with Page One already down, two of the Tobi Roppo are out of the fight and the Beasts panic. Otama then commandeers the broadcaster Bao Huang as a living loudspeaker and announces across all of Onigashima: “IT’S ME, OTAMA!!” — rallying every beast she has tamed. Meanwhile, inside the Skull Dome, Yamato clashes with Kaido (dragon form), who taunts that Straw Hat and Oden’s son are dead and orders Yamato to be Shogun of Wano. Yamato refuses, vowing to hold Kaido back, drive him out of Wano, and go to sea with Luffy — “Luffy is the man Kozuki Oden was waiting for!!! And until he returns…”

• Zeus is reborn as Nami’s weapon homie. When Hera was about to absorb him, Zeus’s soul “slipped out of [his] original body” and was pushed into Nami’s Sorcery Climate Baton at the instant Hera bit down. He is now a permanent storm-cloud homie housed inside Nami’s weapon — “I’ve been reborn!!” — and fights as “the mighty Zeus, right arm of Nami.”
• Homie soul-transfer mechanic: a homie facing soul-devour can transfer its soul into a nearby object. Zeus also notes he cannot get back out of the baton without “Mama’s power.”
• Nami offers to rename him “Fluff”; Zeus rejects it and keeps the name Zeus.
