A thunder-cloud homie created by Big Mom (via the Soru Soru no Mi) to replace the defected Zeus, who had been turned to Nami’s side. Hera is one of Big Mom’s top-tier “special” soul-homies, made from a piece of the Emperor’s own soul, and serves as her lightning-cloud weapon on the Onigashima rooftop. Speaks deferentially to her master (“Yes, Mama!”). Completes Big Mom’s Greek-myth special-homie set alongside Prometheus (the sun), Zeus (the old storm cloud) and Napoleon (the bicorne hat). Her debut attack Fulgora (震御雷, ruby フルゴラ Furugora, lit. “Seismic Thunder”) is a forced-reading (gikun) cross-pun on Fulgora, the Roman female personification of lightning. Completes Big Mom’s classical-myth special-homie set (Zeus/Prometheus/Napoleon).
• Technique etymology — “God of Lightning Tenjin” (technique/name-etymology, confidence high, src One Piece Wiki): the command-attack Big Mom channels through Hera this chapter (Ch. 1038 p.12) is named for Tenjin (天神, lit. “Heavenly Deity”) — the deified spirit of Sugawara no Michizane, the Shinto kami of thunder and lightning (whose vengeful spirit was historically blamed for lightning-strikes on the imperial palace). The name extends Hera’s lightning-deity layer from the Roman Fulgora to a Japanese thunder-god, fitting Wano’s setting; the lightning it unleashes is sentient and homes in on targets, echoing Tenjin’s wrathful storms.
