Summary
The Whole Cake Island escape reaches its climax. At Fluffy Island, a now-sated Big Mom has returned to “the old Mama” after the re-baked wedding cake ended her craving rampage, while Charlotte Perospero marvels at her bliss and prepares a status report. At Cacao Island, the pursuing Big Mom forces spot a ship surfacing — not the Thousand Sunny but Fisher Tiger’s legendary Sun Pirates ship, surfaced as a decoy while the giant blowfish Wadatsumi hides the real Sunny inside his mouth. The Sun Pirates — back to shield Jinbei now that he has thrown in with the Straw Hats — knowingly risk Big Mom’s wrath (she kills anyone who tries to leave) to buy the escape. Wadatsumi apologizes to Luffy for his old crimes on Fish-Man Island. Jinbe coaches Nami and the crew on seamanship and resolves to stay behind as rear guard “and return alive,” but Luffy refuses to let him die in his place — “Your captain is me now!!!” — ordering him to show up alive in Wano: “Don’t let even death stop you!!!” Jinbe answers “I am in your debt.” The Sun Pirates’ fish-men change the ocean currents to hurl the Sunny away. Out at sea, a recovered Big Mom vows to chase Luffy to Cacao and make him one of her homies. At Cacao Island, Morgans and Stussy watch the escape, Morgans declaring that in the near future one of the Worst Generation will rise to claim the mantle of the Pirate King.
New reveals
- Big Mom’s craving rampage is over. Sated by the wedding cake, she is “back to the old Mama” — happy and lucid again (p. 2). Her family is stunned by her bliss.
- The Sun Pirates came back for Jinbe. The crew Jinbe sent home under Aladdin at Cacao (last seen Ch. 860) has returned to Cacao Island present-day to act as his shield, fully aware Big Mom executes deserters (pp. 4-9).
- Fisher Tiger’s ship used as a decoy / Wadatsumi as a transport. The Sun Pirates surface Fisher Tiger’s “legendary ship” to draw the pursuers while Wadatsumi conceals the Thousand Sunny inside his mouth (pp. 3-6).
- Wadatsumi’s atonement. He apologizes to Luffy for “a bad thing I did on Fish-Man Island” (his time with the New Fish-Man Pirates), now loyal to Jinbe’s cause (p. 7).
- Luffy claims Jinbe as crew. “Your captain is me now!!!” — Luffy overrides Jinbe’s self-sacrifice and books a reunion in Wano (pp. 13-14).
- Morgans’ Pirate-King prophecy. To Stussy at Cacao Island: “In the near future, one of the worst generation is going to rise… to claim the mantle of the Pirate King!!!” (p. 17).
