Firsts
  • Boa Hancock wields a petrification Devil Fruit — 'Love-Love Mellow' (Mero Mero Mellow) and 'Pistol Kiss' turn the lustful to stone; Luffy is wholly immune because he harbors no impure thoughts ('His fear of death must've erased any impure thoughts from his mind').
  • Luffy glimpsed a hidden symbol on Hancock's back and says he has 'seen that symbol somewhere before' — the Kuja would die to keep it secret ('All who see what you saw must die').
  • Hancock's two sisters are named and shown — Boa Sandersonia and Boa Marigold — and they wield their own Devil Fruit powers (the 'Gorgon's Curse' / 'Snake Burrow Dance', a snake transformation).
  • Amazon Lily's creed stated by Hancock: 'a nation of woman warriors — here, strength is beauty'; a man on the island is under an automatic death sentence.
  • Luffy defeats Bacura, the empresses' panther executioner, with a single ordinary punch — the Kuja are stunned that he used no Haki, 'by brute strength alone'.
  • Hancock petrifies the three warriors who sheltered Luffy (Marguerite, Sweetpea, Aphelandra) for violating the no-men law; she declares everyone forgives her because she is beautiful.
  • Luffy tells Hancock 'You make me sick!!' — the first man ever to resist her, leaving her shaken ('No man can resist me!').

Summary

In the empress’s palace, Boa Hancock and her sisters discover that the intruding manLuffy — has seen Hancock’s bare back and the secret symbol on it; horrified, they resolve he must die. Hancock unleashes her petrifying Love-Love Mellow, but Luffy is unaffected: he has no impure thoughts to convert to stone. He flees through a hail of stone-tipped Pistol Kiss shots and is captured by the Kuja Pirates, then dragged before the throne in the island’s great Coliseum. There Hancock, flanked by her sisters Sandersonia and Marigold, condemns him. The three warriors who had unknowingly sheltered Luffy — Marguerite, Sweetpea, and Aphelandra — step forward to take responsibility, and Hancock turns all three to stone for breaking the no-men law. Enraged, Luffy is set against the executioner panther Bacura and flattens it with one bare-fisted punch — no Haki at all — astonishing the crowd. When Hancock smugly insists everyone forgives her because she is beautiful, Luffy spits “You make me sick!!”, visibly shaking the empress who has never met a man immune to her. She orders her sisters to take his head, and Sandersonia and Marigold begin the Gorgon’s Curse snake transformation as the chapter ends.
